Updated with statement from Rose’s attorney: A new lawsuit accuses Guns ‘N Roses singer Axl Rose of sexual assault and battery over an alleged attack in a Manhattan hotel suite in 1989.
Sheila Kennedy’s suit claims she “suffered severe emotional, physical, financial and psychological distress” when Rose (real name William Bailey) “used his fame, status, and power as a celebrity and performer in the music industry to gain access to manipulate, control, and violently sexually assault” her.
The case was filed under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, which provides a one-year window for sexual assault plaintiffs to file civil claims, regardless of the statute of limitations. That window closes on Thursday.
“Simply put, this incident never happened,” said Rose’s attorney, Alan S. Gutman of Gutman Law. “Notably, these fictional claims were filed the day before the New York State filing deadline expires. Though he doesn’t deny...

The historic Power Trip festival kicked off on Friday night (October 6th) in Indio, California. The three-day event features six of the biggest hard rock and heavy metal acts in the world, with two bands performing each night.
Tens of thousands of fans descended upon the Empire Polo Club, the same site where Coachella is held every year. They were greeted by a giant devil-horn-shaped cactus, letting them know that they were in for a weekend of legendary rock music.
Guns N’ Roses and Iron Maiden had the honor of playing the first night, with Maiden taking the stage first at 6:55 p.m., about 10 minutes later than the advertised 6:45 set time.
Instead of playing a “greatest hits” set, as could have been expected at an event such as Power Trip, Maiden stuck with their current “Future Past World Tour” setlist, which features the band playing songs predominantly from their latest album,...

Man Crashes Car into New Jersey Police Station While Blasting Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle”
A New Jersey man deliberately crashed his SUV into a police station in Independence Township on September 20th, and he was blasting Guns N’ Roses‘ classic “Welcome to the Jungle” when he did it.
Thankfully no one was hurt during the incident, according to Huffington Post, though one officer narrowly avoided being struck by the vehicle being driven by John Hargreaves, 34, of Belvidere.
The SUV ended up in the station’s squad room, and surveillance footage sees Hargreaves immediately exit the vehicle and put his hands in the air. According to an official press release from the police department (see below), “The defendant exited the vehicle and appeared to be celebrating as he was apprehended by officers on scene as his car stereo blared the song ‘Welcome to the Jungle.'”
Police still haven’t determined a motive for Hargreaves barreling into the station, though the crash happened just minutes...

At gigs in Moncton, New Brunswick, and Montreal in the past few days, she’s included a raucous rendition of Kilmister’s calling card, “Ace of Spades,” in her set list.

Paul McCartney’s “Live and Let Die” is an epic anthem and still one of the best James Bond songs ever. It’s a challenging song to perform, as a large orchestration is involved, but Guns N’ Roses accepted the challenge in 1991. The Guns N’ Roses version of “Live and Let Die” was different in several ways, and a few of their creative decisions made it “complex” to record.
Slash said recreating the horns for Guns N’ Roses’ ‘Live and Let Die’ was ‘complex’
Guns N’ Roses was one of the most prominent bands of the 1980s and 1990s. While songs like “November Rain” and “Welcome to the Jungle” propelled their career, the band still performed covers of classic songs, like Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” and The Rolling Stones’ “Sympathy for the Devil”.

After miraculously enticing Axl Rose to join her onstage at Stagecoach 2022 and, yet again, at her L.A. headlining concert earlier this year, Carrie Underwood will return the favor and open for Guns N’ Roses when the band plays Nashville on its summer 2023 tour. Underwood joined the entirety of Gnr onstage in London last summer, and it’s a fair bet fans will see her again between Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan in Music City.
In addition to the Nashville appearance at Geodis Park, Underwood will open two Guns N’ Roses shows in Canada.

Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” is ubiquitous at sporting events around the world. For the Virginia Tech Hokies, it has become a universal rallying cry for their various athletic programs.
When the Hokies locked up the No. 1 seed in the women’s NCAA basketball tournament, they also garnered home-court advantage, hosting the first two rounds at their own Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg. However, the NCAA treats tournament games as if they’re at a neutral site in an effort to keep the on-campus contests as fair as possible. That means no “Enter Sandman,” or the university would face a fine.
Well, the Virginia Tech student body, aka the Cassell Guard, had other ideas. At the tipoff of the Hokies’ matchup against 16-seed Chattanooga on Friday, the crowd belted out “Enter Sandman” a cappella, impressively singing the song in chorus. They were still singing when Virginia Tech’s Georgia Amoore sunk the first 3-pointer of the game.

Carrie Underwood and Axl Rose reprised their previous onstage duets when the latter appeared for a performance of Guns N’ Roses‘ “Welcome to the Jungle” during Underwood’s concert on Monday night (March 13th) at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Underwood is an outspoken Gn’R fan, which has led to her singing with Rose in various capacities over the past year. Initially, Rose made a cameo during Underwood’s set at the Stagecoach Festival in 2022, singing “Sweet Child ‘O Mine” and “Paradise City.” Underwood would then return the favor, joining Gn’R onstage in London later that year for those same songs.
Therefore, the L.A. show was a perfect time to bust out “Welcome to the Jungle” — an anthem about The City of Angels — alongside Axl. As the song’s iconic opening riff plays, Underwood emerged from beneath the stage, imitating Axl’s signature side-to-side snake dance.

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” leads the Top 10 for its third and probably final weekend, with a strong $451 million domestic and $1 billion worldwide. It led six films from only two companies — Disney and Sony, with three each — that captured the top six spots. That is unheard of.
Sony took nos. 2-4 with “Jumanji: The Next Level,” “Little Women,” and “The Grudge,” which as of now are ahead of “Frozen II” and “Spies in Disguise.”.
Of note is that with the new year, Disney now includes films they inherited from its 20th Century Fox acquisition in its studio total. Former Fox titles are a significant part of the company’s lineup ahead, starting with the release of “Underwater” this Friday.
The year started just about equal to 2019’s first (around $140 million total), down a little less than 30% from last weekend. That it came with only one new release — the low-budget...

There’s little new to consider at the box office in the happy new year; low-budget horror reboot-of-a-remake “The Grudge” from Screen Gems is the sole new wide release this weekend. “Skywalker” will be #1, in the range of $30 million-$35 million (last weekend was $72 million), “Jumanji” second with $20 million-$25 million. “Little Women,” “Frozen II,” and “The Grudge” will battle in the $10 million-$15 million range. The total for the weekend could be around $140 million. That would put it on par for 2019’s first weekend, which grossed $139 million.

Updated with Disney figures: Early morning estimates show Disney’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker crossing the $400 million mark stateside with $407.6M after a New Year’s Day of $17M. That take bests the January 1 cash of The Last Jedi ($14.2M) and Rogue One ($16.75M). Skywalker ranks fourth among the highest-grossing New Years Days behind The Force Awakens, Avatar ($25.2M, 2010), and Meet the Fockers ($18.2M, 2005).
In regards to its running cume, Skywalker went from being 2% behind Last Jedi on Sunday to being 8% behind in its first 13 days through Wednesday. Part of that stems from big box office days like Christmas and New Year’s falling later in Last Jedi‘s run. By its 16th day of release, on December 30, Last Jedi flew past the half-billion mark at the domestic box office. With Skywalker coming off a bigger Christmas than Last Jedi — $32.1M to $27.4M — box office sources aggressively...

Murder Mystery ranks top in nine including Us; The Disappearance Of Madeleine McCann tops UK.
Local language films and TV shows lead the list of most popular content viewed on Netflix in eight countries outside the Us in 2019.
The streaming platform released the information on Monday (December 30), based on the number of accounts that watched at least two minutes of a film or TV show in its first 28 days of release on the platform. While the number of accounts is not revealed, it does illustrate how local audiences continue to respond to Netflix’s aggressive local language production strategy.

High-stakes post-holiday business is in full swing. The weekend after Christmas should total a little below $200 million, about $30 million ahead of last year. Most of the difference comes from the $72 million second weekend for “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” which grossed about $25 million more than last year’s “Aquaman.”
“Skywalker” is clearly a success, although it’s a clear drop from the previous two main-canon entries released in late December 2015 and 2017. Helping bolster the results is the strong continued showing of Sony’s “Jumanji: The Next Level.” Disney, with “Frozen II” and “Spies in Disguise” (20th Century Fox officially) accounted for just over half of the business.
The same studios took third and fourth place with “Little Women” and “Frozen II” nearly tied in estimates. Greta Gerwig’s film looks like the only other December release to have a shot at $100 million domestic.

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” (Disney) dominated initial holiday grosses, combined with family-friendly “Jumanji: The Next Wave” (Sony) doing more than half the business of the past two days. Among new releases, Greta Gerwig’s “Little Women” (Sony) looks biggest so far, with initial reaction suggesting a possible lengthy run and significant returns at the high end of prognostications.
“1917” (Universal) got off to a strong start in initial limited engagements, buttressing its legitimacy as a top awards contender. “Just Mercy” (Warner Bros.) played in fewer theaters, but looks to have decent starting interest.
While Christmas Day grosses get the attention, distributors and exhibitors know the day after Christmas reveals what’s really going on. December 25 is an anomaly — top-heavy with families and special events. December 26 often gives a better view of what the eventual results will be, with early word of mouth kicking in and more regular moviegoers making their choices.

Jumanji: The Next Level nearly doubled the first film's box office opening. Can it also duplicate stealing some of Star Wars' thunder?
It is safe to say that audiences are not putting the controller down anytime soon with the Jumanji franchise and the video game aesthetic it has embraced. Two years ago, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle surprised when it turned out to be the sleeper hit of the holiday season—grossing more than $400 million in the U.S. and having longer legs in the #1 spot than Star Wars: The Last Jedi. While it is too early to know if Jumanji: The Next Level will be able to duplicate that festive run, it is off to a tremendous start as it nearly doubles Welcome to the Jungle’s opening.
Early estimates by Sony Pictures places Jumanji: The Next Level’s box office debut at $60.1 million, which builds...

Sony/Columbia/Seven Bucks’ “Jumanji: The Next Level” is off to a robust start at the box office with a $60.1 million opening weekend from 4,227 screens, the highest opening ever in December for a Sony or comedy release.
This result also sets a new personal opening record for director Jake Kasdan and stars Jack Black and Kevin Hart, and surpasses the first five days of grosses for the film’s predecessor, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.” That film opened on the Wednesday prior to Christmas in 2017, grossing $52.7 million in five days and $71.9 million after Christmas Day before going on to gross $404.5 million domestically and $962 million overall.
Globally, “The Next Level” has grossed $213 million with $85.7 million grossed from 52 overseas markets this weekend. So far, it is 33% ahead of the pace that “Welcome to the Jungle” grossed from the same group of markets.

Sony’s “Jumanji: The Next Level” is earning a solid start on this pre-“Rise of Skywalker” weekend,” as it is currently estimated for a $50 million opening from 4,227 screens.
The previous “Jumanji” film, “Welcome to the Jungle,” opened on a Wednesday after the release of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and earned a 6-day opening of $71.9 million through Christmas Day. It went on to endure exceedingly well in theaters, grossing $404.5 million in North America and $962 million worldwide.

While “The Next Level” isn’t expected to match that total, Sony is hoping for a similar pattern among family audiences during its theatrical run. While a steep drop next weekend is expected thanks to “Star Wars,” the goal for “The Next Level” is to be the second film that family and general audiences go to during the holiday season.

Producer Matt Tolmach wasn’t surprised that Sony Motion Picture Group chairman Tom Rothman wanted a sequel to “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.” After all, the film didn’t just open big two years ago this month; its box office take actually increased 38.4% in its second weekend of release — a rare feat for a studio tentpole movie.
But Rothman wanted the sequel, “Jumanji: The Next Level,” for Christmas 2019. That gave Tolmach and Co. a short window to reassemble the movie’s busy stars — including Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Nick Jonas — and come up with a storyline that justified the film’s existence.
“We didn’t want to make the sequel because that’s what you do,” says Tolmach. The plot had to be “in keeping with the spirit of the first movie, but at the same time turn it on its ear completely.”

We’ve got three weeks to close the 6% box-office gap from 2018, and while the bulk of that lift will fall on “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” starting December 19, the work begins now. However, this weekend is tricky; Christmas is 12 days away, but it’s still in the heart of the pre-holiday doldrums. Historically, it’s a weekend that has seen better results for blockbuster titles like the “Lord of the Rings” and “Hobbit” series, but otherwise $40 million or more is unusual.
This week sees three new wide releases: “Jumanji: The Next Level” should be the month’s second-best release, while Clint Eastwood’s “Richard Jewell” could be another mid-sized triumph in the director’s 48-year directorial career. Meanwhile, Blumhouse Productions’ “Black Christmas” looks to rake in some quick money and take its chances beyond that.

Two years after “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” became a surprise box office hit, Sony is hoping to strike box office fortune again with the sequel, “The Next Level” — even though the Dwayne Johnson-Kevin Hart comedy adventure film is opening one week before Disney’s eagerly awaited saga finale “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.”
Analysts don’t expect “The Next Level” to match the unexpected success of 2017’s “Welcome to the Jungle,” but also note that the film can still be a hit for Sony. The film has already grossed $53 million overseas and is projected to earn a domestic opening in the low $50 million range, similar to the $55 million 4-day Christmas opening that “Welcome to the Jungle” earned. Sony is projecting a $35 million launch.

It’s a concept as strange as it was inevitable: a big-budget reboot of a beloved kids’ film that centered on the lo-fi charms (and unexpected terror) of a whimsical board game with a mind of its own. When Sony opted to craft a new take on Joe Johnston’s creative adaptation of Chris Van Allsburg’s book “Jumanji” back in 2017, it seemed like another silly remake destined for the cinematic scrap heap. Taking the ruminative and often freaky Robin Williams-starring fantasy and turning in into a video game movie starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, and Jack Black? It sounded like Hollywood’s reboot machine was on the fritz, kicking out random ideas on a whim.
And yet Jake Kasdan’s late December release “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” subverted those expectations, offering up a funny and self-reflective spin on both reboots and video game movies,...

When Sony dusted off its 22-year-old “Jumanji” movie for a distant sequel in 2017, it looked to some as though Hollywood had hit rock bottom in terms of pillaging its own properties. In fact, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” proved to be that rare reboot that built upon its initial high concept — a jungle-themed board game that takes over a family’s living room — with a clever new riff, where four mismatched teens, thrust together in detention, are sucked into an old-school video game console, assigned to avatars who are nothing like their real-world personalities.
It was like “The Breakfast Club” with a 21st-century twist, where the nerd becomes Dwayne Johnson’s brawny hero, the popular girl winds up stuck in Jack Black’s body, and so on. More often than not, effects-driven blockbusters get dumber as the series goes along, but “Jumanji: The Next Level” invents some fun ideas to keep things fresh,...

The sequel to 2017’s improbable blockbuster offers more of the same, for which your mileage may vary.

Although the original Jumanji was a decent-sized hit in 1995, no one was expecting 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle to clear $400 million at the U.S. box office alone and nearly a billion worldwide. But evidently there was a lot of nostalgic good will for the brand, and love for its lead actors. While Welcome to the Jungle no one’s idea of a great movie, it was passable fantasy entertainment that paid dutiful homage to its predecessor and coasted largely on the charisma of its game cast.
Such unprecedented success for an IP that had been largely dormant for two decades was not going to slip away without Sony Pictures cashing in for all it’s worth, so here we are two years later with Jumanji: The Next Level cued up at theaters everywhere.

While 2017’s Jumanji reboot welcomed us to the jungle, its sequel succeeds in taking us to The Next Level.
The set up is broadly the same; Jumanji is in grave danger and only the actions of Smoulder Bravestone (Dwayne Johnson) and crew can save it. Though wonderfully grounded with the chemistry of the original four, it’s the new additions which allow the film to hit new heights.
The film begins with the four high school friends cast far and wide. Bethany (Madison Iseman) is holidaying in exotic climes, ‘Fridge’ (Ser’Darius Blain) has seemingly been locked in the gym since the last film, while Martha (Morgan Turner) and Spencer (Alex Wolff) are both back from college. The latter hasn’t exactly been revelling life in The Big Apple and it’s this crisis of confidence which causes him to dive back into the world of Jumanji. Fast forward and the...

Mötley Crüe, Poison, and Def Leppard announced tour dates for their 2020 summer tour at a press conference yesterday in Los Angeles. “I’m just telling you that it is going to be not just ‘The Stadium Tour,’ it is the party of the summer,” Poison frontman Bret Michael said. “If [the other bands] cut half their set, there’s still nothing but hits.”
One song likely to be in Poison’s set list is “Fallen Angel” from their 1988 LP Open Up and Say … Ahh!. The single reached Number 12 on the Hot 100 that year...

When Jumanji was rebooted a couple of years ago with Welcome to the Jungle, one of the interesting changes they made from the original was turning the game into a video game, with the teens’ characters becoming avatars. That created an interesting acting opportunities for the actors who played the avatars, since they were actually [...]
