Mia Goth is arguably the reigning queen of horror. Though 2022 saw the return of legendary final girls and the rise of a few new scream queens, no one dominated the genre quite like Goth. The London-born actress kicked off the year with a dual role in Ti West’s X and a show-stopping performance in the prequel Pearl as a young woman destined to escape her rural roots.
Goth shows no signs of slowing down as this impressive run continues into 2023 with the highly anticipated Infinity Pool, the latest slice of mind-bending horror from writer-director Branden Cronenberg. Goth stars in the film as Gabi, a young socialite on a luxurious vacation at an all-inclusive island resort. Seemingly on a whim, she invites fellow travelers James (Alexander Skarsgård) and his wife Em (Cleopatra Coleman) to venture outside the grounds for a day trip that plunges the couple into a living nightmare.

Big transformations are happening in Shia Labeouf's life. The 35-year-old actor is expecting a baby with Mia Goth, according to People. This will be the first child for the notoriously private pair. Although neither stars have publicly announced the pregnancy, Mia was seen stepping out with a baby bump on Jan. 28 in Pasadena, Calif. For the outing, the A Cure for Wellness actress rocked a in a long-sleeved white top that showed off part of her growing belly. She capped off the casual look with black leggings, cat-eye sunglasses, white socks and Birkenstocks sandals. Shia Labeouf was spotted with an eye-raising accessory during a recent outing with ex-wife Mia Goth.
The American Honey actor, 33, was recently spotted out and about with Goth, 26. During the outing, Labeouf wore a wedding band on that finger and Goth also had on a diamond ring and a wedding band.
Photos showed the pair, who were both dressed casually for the outing, sitting together on a bench outside, with Goth leaning towards the actor with her hand on his knee.

Last night, the Super Bowl featured an intense matchup between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons, ending with a Patriots comeback in overtime after they were down by 18 points at the half. The television event also featured a host of funny, compelling commercials, including a few for upcoming films, like Gore Verbinski’s new horror film “A Cure for Wellness.” The Super Bowl trailer poses as a normal commercial for some unknown “wellness cure” before suddenly taking a scary turn. Watch the spot entitled “Take The Cure” below, featuring a host of abnormal side effects such as skin eruptions, severe hallucinations and murderous rage.

Imagine if you took DVD copies of The Road To Wellville, Eyes Wide Shut, and Sucker Punch, and you compressed them all together with some Finnish guy’s hydraulic press. If you took that mashed-up disk and popped it into the entertainment system, what came out on the TV would probably look a lot like this trailer for A Cure For Wellness. That’s not necessarily a criticism. Those three films went off the rails to varying degrees, but they were all visually arresting and striving for something tonally challenging. Director Gore Verbinski seems to be aiming for something in the center of their overlapping sets.

There was a time before The Lone Ranger and Pirates of the Caribbean when Gore Verbinski was known not as Disney’s go-to director for big-budget bores, but rather as the exciting helmer behind excellent horror remake The Ring. Now, he’s attempting to regain some of that credibility by taking on a small-scale supernatural horror pic at New Regency called A Cure for Wellness, and to aid him in that pursuit, Verbinski is calling on the talents of Kill Your Darlings star Dane DeHaan and on-the-rise actress Mia Goth.
DeHaan will star as a man who is sent to Europe in order to retrieve his boss from a “wellness spa,” only to become trapped in the facility and realize that its staff members have a far more nefarious goal than simply improving the health of their patients.

This morning came the announcement of the 2014 Venice Film Festival lineup and we already knew Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's Birdman would serve as the opening night film and for the most part a lot of the more recognizable entries are those we already discussed as part of the Toronto Film Festival lineup. This includes Ramin Bahrani's 99 Homes, David Gordon Green's Manglehorn starring Al Pacino, Abel Ferrera's Pasolini, Barry Levinson's The Humbling and Andrew Niccol's The Good Kill. There are, however, some titles worthy of note such as the latest film from The Act of Killing director Joshua Oppenheimer, The Lord of Silence, Fatih Akin's The Cut, She's Funny that Way from Peter Bogdanovich, Lisa Cholodenko's Olive Kitteredge and a new film from James Franco in The Sound and the Fury based on Faulkner's novel. Joe Dante shows up with a new horror-comedy in Burying the Ex,...

The splitting of Nymphomaniac into Nymphomaniac: Vol. I and Nymphomaniac: Vol. II is quite ridiculous and given the fact the two installments grossed just barely over one million combined in their limited theatrical run proves the commercial reasons are hard to make a case for. Not to mention, the way the film was marketed was only ever as some sort of a scandalous venture where, in fact, that's hardly the case when it comes to the final product. Anyone approaching Nymphomaniac with prurient interests will come away disappointed. Then again, even if you're not looking for some sexed up, independent art film porno you might wish that's what you'd gotten as writer/director Lars von Trier has delivered a talky, flashback-driven, voice over fueled picture of relative boredom with minor flashes of intrigue throughout. Charlotte Gainsbourg stars as the titular sex fiend, real name Joe, and she's found, beaten and bloodied,...

My review of Nymphomaniac: Vol. I can be found here. Both volumes are now playing locally at the Violet Crown Cinema and are also available to rent through cable & digital VOD providers, including iTunes.
While the first installment of Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac focused on Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg) graphically retelling the stories of her sexual history as a young woman to Seligman (Stellan Skarsgard), Nymphomaniac: Vol. II shifts to her adulthood. She's on an endless quest to recreate the enormity of feeling from a spontaneous orgasm she once experienced as a pre-teen, but as the story picks back up, we're at a stage where she basically has lost all sexual desire and, even worse, any pleasure from having sex. Joe has gone numb and can no longer have an orgasm, a loss that nearly destroys her ability to function. She goes on a quest to "rehabilitate her sexuality" and...

Here’s an anti-Valentine’s Day gift for the jaded, it’s the official theatrical trailer for director Lars von Trier’s new film Nymphomaniac: Volume I. The two-part story revolved around Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg), a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac who recounts her numerous sexual encounters to an old bachelor (Stellan Skarsgård) when he discovers her badly beaten in an alley.
The trailer is Sfw and lends a lot to the imagination; this is a graphically explicit film from what people are saying after watching the “hardcore” version. So what I’m saying is this isn’t a movie to watch with your parents.
The film also stars Jamie Bell, Uma Thurman, Stacy Martin, Connie Nielsen, Christian Slater, Willem Dafoe, Mia Goth, Nicolas Bro, Sophie Kennedy Clark, Jens Albinus, and Udo Kier.
Nymphomaniac: Volume I will be available VOD on March 6th followed by a theatrical release on March 21st.

This video is pretty much safe for work, just a single shot of a bare ass to be concerned about. Controversial filmmaker Lars von Trier had so much to say on the topic of sex addiction in the modern world that his upcoming Nymphomaniac had to be cut in two. This month, part one of this hard-core erotic drama stunned audiences at the Sundance Film Festival, where it played as a secret screening. And now we're getting a taste of Nymphomaniac: Volume II thanks to the above international trailer. Because the film's distributors might actually want to screen a trailer in theaters, they had to figure out how to make a tamer trailer out of a movie stuffed to the brim with "too hot for TV" moments. And here's what they came up with, a spot that is at once enigmatic and dripping in star power. And so we have...

The trailer for director Lars Von Trier's "Nymphomaniac" wasn't just deemed Nsfw -- it was so sexually graphic that it was pulled from YouTube.
It seems Von Trier is going the opposite way for the movie's follow-up, "Nymphomaniac: Volume II," as the new trailer for it is completely Sfw and only hints at what happens to Charlotte Gainsbourg's sex addict character.
The trailer is mostly a series of fleeting images -- someone packing a phone, Christian Slater looking at a tree, a car bursting into flames, Gainsbourg tied up, Shia Labeouf punching a wall. There's still some suggestive language, but then the mood turns more, um, upbeat when "Burning Down the House" by the Talking Heads starts playing.

The first part, Nymphomaniac: Vol. I, just premiered recently at Sundance and also hit theaters in Denmark in late December; it will also play at the Berlin Film Festival next. The entire story (and the reason it's split) will chronicle the life, from youth to age 50, of the nymphomaniac character "Joe". We've already featured a trailer, posters + teaser clips before. But it looks like things get a bit wilder in the second half, so watch out, this footage isn't for the squeamish. Latest international trailer for Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac: Volume II, found via The Film Stage: Forget about love. A...

Well, it appears that the wait is finally over. After suffering through a barrage of promotional material for Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac over the last couple of months, the film has now screened for critics and the first reviews are starting to emerge. Of course, those of us who live in North America won’t get a chance to check out the director’s sex epic until the Spring but overseas in Denmark, the film is about to release into theatres and several reviewers have revealed their thoughts on the incredibly controversial film.
The Film Stage has been kind enough to compile excerpts from all of the reviews, which you can check out below. It seems that for the most part, reactions are fairly positive. In fact, some are calling it the director’s best work yet. Of course, Nymphomaniac won’t be for everyone. It won’t even be for most people.

Producer on Lars von Trier's (AntiChrist, Melancholia) Nymphomaniac Peter Aalbæk Jensen recently spoke to Screen Daily and shared news about the upcoming film that will chronicle the sex life of a woman from birth to age 50. It was just confirmed that longtime Von Trier collaborator Charlotte Gainsbourg will be officially joining the cast, and now Jensen has more good news to add to the project. "We are making two films. It is a big operation. I personally hope that we should be ready for Cannes next year. We will shoot both and edit both – and we want to finish both at the same time," he told the website. Color us excited. The team is still going for a hardcore and softcore version of the tale. "We will probably blur the central points of...

Here comes a two-parter that'll be neither a cash-grabbing young-adult novel adaptation nor a rhyming Tarantino joint: Lars von Trier's Charlotte Gainsbourg–starring The Nymphomaniac will be comprised of two films. Producer Peter Aalbæk Jensen tells Screen Daily (via The Playlist) that the two-pronged effort will be shot and edited simultaneously, with hopes for a bow at Cannes in 2013. As previously reported, Nympho (that works as an abbreviated title, right?) details "the erotic life of a woman from the age of zero to the age of 50" (what?) and will probably be released with both a hardcore and not-so-hardcore version. It may be a tough film not to be intrigued by, no matter what dumb and/or horrible and/or ridiculous things von Trier says while promoting it.
