British stars Keira Knightley, Cara Delevingne, Carey Mulligan, Rebecca Ferguson, Naomie Harris and Emerald Fennell have penned an open letter demanding a crackdown on bullying and sexual harassment in the U.K.’s entertainment industry.
The group are just six of 25 names who called on creative organizations to help fund a new watchdog, the Creative Industry Independent Standards Authority (Ciisa), to investigate complaints in industries spanning music, film, TV and theater.
The letter reads: “So many of us in this industry would have loved to have an objective outside body that we could go to for advice, for mediation and in the very extreme circumstances, that we might need some outside body to hold people accountable for the bad behavior or bad practices that sometimes happen on our sets, on our stages, behind the scenes. The Crown may not be done after all. And Prince Andrew’s partly to thank. The success of Scoop, a Netflix movie about his 2019 Newsnight interview, has reportedly made executives at the streamer realize there are still more British royal family stories to tell. To that end, The Crown, which ended after six seasons in December 2023, may return to the small-screen with a prequel.
Netflix is looking to make a short-form prequel to ‘The Crown’
“When the sixth season was released at the end of 2023, some breathed a sigh of relief, thinking the controversial show had been put to bed for good,” Tatler reported. However, it looks like it may very well be on its way back. (The Crown ended after depicting now-King Charles III’s 2005 marriage to now-Queen Camilla.)

Fiona Apple is the go-to songwriter for exorcising your romantic demons, ruing the ones you loved, the ones who didn’t love you back, the ones you pushed away amid yet another freefall of your own design. She’s also the go-to singer for three studio comedy auteurs: Michael Showalter, Judd Apatow, and Paul Feig.
Apple’s songs have featured in three of their films — Apple wrote the original song “Dull Tool” for Apatow’s “This Is 40,” capturing a decades-long marriage at its breaking point. Elsewhere, her epic ball of romantic resignation “Cosmonauts,” off the 2020 album “Fetch the Bolt Cutters,” was also originally meant for that film. Meanwhile, her classic cabaret-inspired love song “Paper Bag,” about having too much emotional baggage to enter into a new relationship she wants “so bad, oh it kills,” featured in Feig’s “Bridesmaids” in a montage of Annie (Kristen Wiig) making cupcakes as...

Dominic West is commenting on Ruth Wilson‘s claims about what happened on The Affair and how she didn’t feel safe on set.
The two actors played lovers on the Showtime series, but Ruth left after the fourth season while Dominic continued into the fifth and final season.
In a new interview, Dominic responded to what Ruth said almost four years ago and he says she was “absolutely right.”

Ruth said back in November 2020, “What’s important to say is that I did speak up. I did have a voice. I did stand up for myself. There was a situation on The Affair where things didn’t feel right, and I dealt with them, and I managed to protect myself. Sure, Scoop “upset” Princess Beatrice. But not as much as Amazon’s own depiction of Prince Andrew’s 2019 Newsnight interview is about to. The 35-year-old British royal is reportedly “dreading” A Very Royal Scandal’s release as she’s further “dragged” into the drama surrounding her father’s legendary interview.
Beatrice expects to be featured more prominently in ‘A Very Royal Scandal’ than ‘Scoop’
Although, like Scoop, A Very Royal Scandal focuses on her father’s 2019 Newsnight interview about Jeffrey Epstein that saw him lose patronages as well as working royal and Hrh [His Royal Highness] status, Beatrice is more concerned about Amazon’s depiction as opposed to Netflix’s.
The reason, per Ok! Magazine, is because Beatrice thinks she’ll feature more prominently compared to Scoop, in which actor Charity Wakefield played her in one brief scene.
The three-part Amazon series centers around Emily Maitlis’s “professional and personal journey as a...

Dominic West has spoken out in support of his former co-star’s criticisms of The Affair.
British actor West, who got his big TV break as maverick policeman McNulty in The Wire and most recently starred as Prince Charles in the final two series of The Crown, filmed five seasons of the hit drama on Showtime, but his co-star Ruth Wilson was written out of the series after four.
In 2020, Wilson – who it is speculated signed an NDA on her departure – recalled that “things didn’t feel right” on the show, she didn’t always “feel safe” and raised the particular concern that, during the filming of sex scenes, the cameras always focused on her “orgasm face,” not that of male actors’.

Morwenna Banks, who has penned several episodes of Slow Horses, will be the lead writer.
Down Cemetery Road kicks off with a house exploding in a quiet Oxford suburb and a girl disappearing in the aftermath. Sarah Tucker (Wilson, The Affair), who lives nearby, becomes obsessed with finding the girl and enlists the help of private investigator Zoë Boehm (Oscar and Emmy winner Thompson). When you begin watching Palm Royale on Apple TV+ tomorrow, you'll be whisked back to the lively and colorful Palm Beach of the late 1960s courtesy of Abe Sylvia, whose creative mind brought it all together.
Sylvia created, writes, and directs Palm Royale, which almost defies genres. It's a comedic period piece starring Kristen Wiig as Maxine Simmons, a woman who takes her future into her own hands, desperate to cross the line between the haves and have-nots.
As Maxine brings her daring plan to extraordinary life, she discovers that the lives she wants to crash aren't all they're cracked up to be.
Sylvia has an unusual heroine in Maxine, who is as aggravating as she is understandable, and he's ensconced her in high society with many vibrant and sly women and men eager to both embrace Maxine and hold her at a distance, depending on their needs at the moment.

The Liane Moriarty cinematic universe has now come to Peacock, but how does one adapt the author behind “Big Little Lies” and “Nine Perfect Strangers” work for the screen?
“Apples Never Fall” showrunner Melanie Marnich told IndieWire that maintaining beloved novelist Moriarty’s “page-turner energy” was key for adapting the twisted family drama starring Annette Bening and Sam Neill.
“The pacing of those kinds of moments was to make the TV show have the same page-turner energy of the book,” Marnich said. “It was something I had to really be aware of. In the writer’s room, we worked really hard to craft the sort of constant turn of the story. It was so juicy. I’m a huge fan of Liane. I really, really worked to capture that same page turner energy in the show to keep things moving, but also never at the sacrifice of character development.”

Exclusive: Melanie Marnich is a huge fan of Big Little Lies scribe Liane Moriarty’s work, but when showrunning an adaptation of Moriarty’s Apples Never Fall, Marnich blocked the HBO hit from her consciousness almost entirely.
Peacock’s Apples Never Fall, which stars 2024 Oscar-nominee Annette Bening, launches tomorrow and is in international competition at next week’s Series Mania, was made with a Big Little Lies-free lens, Marnich explained to Deadline.
“I admire Big Little Lies and think it’s brilliant but I had to literally put it out my mind,” she said in the days leading up to the Lille market. “I knew I had to quite quickly ignore all [Moriarty’s past work] and ask what this book wants to be and what the best way is to honor it. Oscar-nominated “Nyad” star Annette Bening on Peacock? Well, sometimes miracles do happen.
“Apples Never Fall” creator Melanie Marnich wanted to swing big when it came to pitching her take on the Liane Moriarty thriller novel adaptation. Despite never having showrun before, she was determined to cast A-lister Bening as Joy Delaney, a tennis pro coach matriarch who goes missing. While all signs point to her husband Stan (Sam Neill) as the most likely culprit, Joy’s case unlocks further Delaney family secrets swirling around their four children, played by Jake Lacy, Alison Brie, Conor Merrigan-Turner, and Essie Randles.
Bening, in fact, was at the center of Marnich’s initial pitch to Peacock.
“When [producer] David Heyman was looking for writers for the project I was like, ‘I’m going for it. I want this one,'” Marnich told IndieWire. “I think in my initial pitch to him, I was like, ‘I see Annette Bening as Joy.

We've gotten more used to seeing Joshua Jackson on small screens in recent years, with the likes of The Affair and Fatal Attraction. But he's headed back to cinemas with a big gig – Jackson will appear alongside Jackie Chan, Ralph Macchio and Ben Wang in Sony's new Karate Kid film.
With I'm Not Okay With This' Jonathan Entwistle directing from a script by Peter Rabbit writer Rob Lieber, a lot about the new film is being kept quiet for now, but we do know that it'll switch the story from its usual Southern California locales to the East Coast of the States. Macchio and Chan's presence, points to Daniel Larusso and Mr. Han teaming up to train a new youngster in martial arts (American Born Chinese star Wang).
How Jackson fits in is similarly a mystery, but we could easily see him deploying smooth charm as a wrong 'un.

And in an era rife with conspiracy theory and subterfuge, how much of those forces are products of our own doing, perhaps even of our imagining?
At the center of the narrative is Mullen (Robert De Niro), a popular but complicated figure who is yanked back from retirement to head up a commission investigating a global cyberattack.
The show also stars Angela Bassett, Dan Stevens, Matthew Modine, Bill Camp, McKinley Belcher III, Gaby Hoffman, Clark Gregg, Mark Ivanir, Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Joan Allen and Connie Britton.

Lee Child's "Jack Reacher" books are tasty slabs of red meat for those who prefer their pulpy action hard-boiled, providing readers with a motley collection of crime investigations, despicable bad guys, and a hero who's the sort of unstoppable force that could make an immovable object shuffle a little. And so far, Prime Video's "Reacher" has stayed largely faithful to that ethos. The show might not hold up under critical scrutiny, but it's not meant to.
