50. Sick of Myself (Kristoffer Borgli)
Kristoffer Borgli’s first Norwegian feature is a work of disgusting, hilarious, horrifying genius. Signe (played brilliantly by Kristine Kujath Thorp) is an early-20s narcissist who, galled by the success of her equally self-centered boyfriend, spirals into full-on Munchausen syndrome. The exec producer behind BBC comedy-drama We Might Regret This has said his ambition was for a show starring and written by a disabled performer to be “at the very top table of creativity.”
The Office and People Just Do Nothing producer Ash Atalla, whose Roughcut TV outfit is making We Might Regret This in association with Village Roadshow Television, said there has been a tendency for British broadcasters to “use the dry slopes of smaller budget shows or ancillary channels as training progams” when it comes to projects led by disabled people.
Penned by Kyla Harris and Lee Getty, We Might Regret This, on the other hand, is being positioned as a bigger-budget primetime offering for the UK’s national broadcaster, which its backers feel could be a potential awards winner.

Arguably the best look yet at “Barbie” was released Thursday by Warner Bros. The new trailer for Greta Gerwig’s upcoming film mixes goofy comedy with some existential conflict while also showcasing the star turns from leads Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
The “Barbie” main trailer opens with the title hero (Robbie) having yet another “best day ever” and a blowout party that gets interrupted when Barbie asks her friends if they ever think about dying. The cracks in her happy facade continue from there before Barbie and Ken (Gosling) are forced to go to the “real world” to find out the “truth about the universe.” Once in reality, Barbie and Ken are faced with confrontation and disinterest as they seemingly must work to escape the clutches of a corporate overlord (played by Will Ferrell). Think “Elf” meets “Lady Bird” meets “The Lego Movie.”

Few feature films in recent memory have generated as much excitement around the city of London as Searchlight’s latest pic Rye Lane.
Directed by debut feature filmmaker Raine Allen-Miller, the romantic comedy, set in the bustling, predominantly Black neighborhood of Peckham, South London, is the talk of the town following its strong debut out of Sundance in January.
Deadline’s Anna Smith described the pic as a “sunny, irreverent take on life and love” that provides an “energetic bounce forward” for the romantic comedy genre.
“I wish I could step back and embrace it all, but I’m so nervous,” Allen-Miller told Deadline shortly before the film’s UK premiere at Peckhamplex, a historic community cinema in South London. “My worst nightmare is that people from South London watch it and think, Oh, God.”
The pic follows Dom, played by David Jonsson (Industry), and Yas (Vivian Oparah), a pair of twentysomethings nursing bad breakups,...
