The New Look (2024)
Riveting
I don't understand the negative reviews-this series is riveting. Ben Mendelson is amazing as always. I didn't know about this piece of history and it makes for some edge of your seat viewing.
The rest of the cast is great as well, especially Juliette Binoche and John Malkovich. I've never seen Juliette Binoche play a villain before, and her character is genuinely menacing. It's also refreshing to see John Malkovich play a kind hearted person.
Anyone complaining about the accents is not focusing on the story itself, which is powerful, especially as it is based in truth. I give it a solid 9/10, drama for adults.
Line of Duty (2012)
Started strong, went downhill fast.
Like most people here I felt the first 4 seasons of this were great, even if a bit formulaic. But Season 5 lost me with the characters making ridiculous choices and dumb mistakes. The dialog was so full of acronyms that I couldn't tell what they were talking about. I think they jumped the shark here.
Them (2021)
Depressing and unwatchable
This was like having your teeth pulled. One depressing, infuriating scene after another without any resolution. If you enjoy watching people suffer, this show is for you.
Minari (2020)
Makes you think
This is one that touched me in the theater but really got me on the way home. The characters were compelling and the story was riveting, but it was really after the film was over that it hit me. You will realize what family and commitment are really all about. Excellent film.
The Lighthouse (2019)
Confusing and boring
I loved The Witch, but really didn't like this. Too many long, interminable scenes that led nowhere and were contradicted by something else. Great acting but all else was confusion.
