WandaVision (2021)
The best thing to come from phase 4 by far
Wandavision is the best thing to come from phase 4 by far. An ode to television that's told in such a unique way.
WandaVision is a genuine love letter that reminds us of the 'Golden age of TV' and why we tuned in every week to watch our favorite sitcoms.
What's most magical is how the sitcom inspired approach is integrated into the overall plot of "WandaVision"
Marvel maintains their ability of creating relatable characters by humanizing emotions.
Wanda's journey of grief is on point and provides the audience a teachable moment that one is never truly without it.
WandaVision is hopefully a chance to allow more unique ways to tell these stories that dominate our media culture.
I hope Marvel takes more risks like this.
Supernatural (2005)
Supernatural rises above most of its genre competition.
With clever dialogue and two incredibly-charismatic leads, "Supernatural" rises above most of its genre competition.
Supernatural continues to be one of my favorite shows on television/streaming.
It's not just the dialogue that's clever, it's also the way it's delivered perfectly by each character that makes the it work as well as it does. None of this would be possible without the sensitive, emotional, subtle, and often hilarious performances of Jared Ackles and Jared Padalecki.
It was a show that knew how to expertly balance the overarching plot with monster-of-the-week stories that kept you wanting more.
The Marvels (2023)
The Marvels is far from perfect. But, it's nonetheless entertaining
The Marvels is far from perfect. But, it's nonetheless entertaining and it's difficult not to get swept up in its infectious energy.
It's exciting to see three women superheroes actually work together and get none of the Endgame "female empowerment" scenes.
The chemistry between these three leads is a joy to watch. Their comedic timing and warmth make this trio one you immediately want to see more of.
Iman Vellani's Kamala Khan is the heart of the film and she delivers a warm, big-hearted, charming performance.
No one's having more fun in this movie than Kamala Khan.
As an enjoyable entry into the MCU, The Marvels proudly celebrates being unapologetically wild and funny.
Echo (2023)
Echo is reminiscent of the gritty Netflix Marvel streets we all fell in loved with
Echo leaps bravely into place, daring to tread a path reminiscent of the gritty Netflix Marvel streets we all fell in loved with.
The raw, brutal, hard-hitting series deeply rooted in Native American culture offers a refreshing shift from the extravagant, CGI-heavy narratives of recent MCU releases.
Its TV-MA rating allows for a darker tone and sets an exciting precedent for the anticipated Daredevil: Born Again series currently in production.
Marvel Studios Echo gets it done, delivering a strong character-driven story that also honors differently abled people as well as the Choctaw Nation.
The Girls on the Bus (2024)
Enjoyable watch
It's been a while since MAX (formerly HBO Max) released an original show that I've actually liked.
That's finally changed though. The Girls on the Bus is incredibly enjoyable to watch. The talent and chemistry amongst the cast is magic. Melissa Benoist shines in every scene she's in.
MAX's marketing for the show is pretty much non-existent which makes me believe this is the only season we will get. I feel like if this was in any other streaming platform or network it would have gotten a press junket. I don't think MAX was the right distributor for this series but I hope this series leads to more future easy-to-watch content to their platform.
