The Chosen (2017)
Amazing and Moving; the best Christian show I've seen.
I'll preface with the fact that I've seen 40+ years of video entertainment, and have not enjoyed many religious shows; they were either entertaining but not realistic, or realistic and not entertaining. I think the creators did an outstanding job of striking a balance between what is literally written in the scripture, and creating something that can be entertaining to viewers in 2024 (and after).
I read some of the negative reviews, and most of the them had issue with the show not being EXACTLY what is written in the bible. I think it is sad that some people couldn't get past the little inconsistencies; most complaints were about skin color, or the fact that women were speaking or reading at all; the same people that watch Batman and complain that something isn't 'canon' so they can't sit back and just enjoy the show. One reviewer (5/10), said the show was ruined when they saw metal clasps on some sandals; a simple internet search proves they had metalwork on sandals and other cloths 1500 years before Jesus - just want the show and stop looking for imperfections.
I love that there are so many allusions to the weekly stories I hear in church. Each episode I find myself welling up with emotions that this show stirs in me. I love the casting, each of the actors are perfectly chosen (no pun intended). I love that I'm learning things I didn't know about older Jewish customs. I love that this show has me pulling out my bible to learn more; there were two times in particular where I wanted to understand more details around what I saw in the show so I pulled my bible out and read.
I wasn't one of the people that donated to the creation of the show, actually just recently found out about it and am so glad I did. Especially great to watch this during lent; a time which I'm trying to pray more and read my bible. To the creators of this show, thank you and God Bless!

Love Brook Shields
Great movie, Brook Shields is great in this. I was surprised Spader and Cruz were in this too.
