LazyTown (2002)
A wonderful children's show
When LazyTown began throwing promos on nickelodeon, I figured it would be one of those shows that would stay around for a season and then disappear. However, when the show began, I could see why it was so popular in Iceland. The upbeat music makes children want to dance, sing and get up and play. Interwoven with a little slap-stick humor that even adults can get, you can see the entire family can learn from Sportacus, Stephanie and even Robbie Rotten. Sportacus shows kids how to eat properly, even introducing Sports Candy: apples and other naturally sweet fruits, good for energy. Not only that, the values go beyond eating and exercising healthy. It also goes into working as a team, how to not be selfish (As Stingy most willingly shows us), and most importantly the value of friends and family. Personally, I look forward to seeing where this show leads to as Stephanie gets older.
Go, Diego, Go! (2005)
growing up
While Dora is around 4 years old, she covers the basics of find. Now, as children graduate from the memorizing and finding stage, they can go on to learn all about different animals. My daughter is still dedicated to Dora, but now talks all about the animals she sees on Go, Diego, Go! A step up in learning, definitely worth watching with your child. The songs are more catchy, almost more along the lines of noticeable dance music such as Click The Camera's theme song and Rescue Pack, sometimes I have to resist the urge to dance with my child. While some may dub Go, Diego, Go as a boy-oriented show, one can not forget Diego's sister, Alicia, who also helps out at the animal sanctuary, making the show not only for boys - but also in a sense for siblings.
Phantom of the Paradise (1974)
Wonderful
When I saw it on one of the classic movie channels, I had never heard of Phantom of the Paradise. Curious, I found out it was a musical, and as a sucker for those, I watched it, completely in awe. The music, wonderful. The sythesized voice was spooky yet somehow alluring. Phoenix and her voice.. wonderful. If I could find it on tv or dvd, I would definitely be one to watch it time and time again.
Daddy's Dyin'... Who's Got the Will? (1990)
Two Thumbs Up
I remember just turning on the tv one day to see Daddy's Dyin.. on. It reminded me so much of most of the families in the area, they might not see each other for long periods of time, but, when they do see each other it's like nothing has changed. The same fights exist, the same love remains beneath it all.
A truly touching story, it shows a good example of unconditional love within a family.
Ghost Ship (2002)
took my breath away...
I thought at first it was going to be a flop, after all my friends had told me it was. So I took it upon myself to see it and it had me on the edge of my seat and just craving to see how it ended. Without giving away any of the information on the movie, I say it's a definite see for those interested in ghost ships.
Are You Being Served? (1972)
Best Britcom ever!
Are you being served? Is in my opinion, the best comedy to come out of England from the 1970's. Even as a little girl, when I first started watching the comedy on Public Broadcasting, I found humor in the zany quirks and could relate to each one in a different way.
Lili (1953)
wonderful wonderful
This movie was incredible the first time I viewed it along with the last time I had viewed it. The imagination Lili has is amazing, the acting superb and I hope this one continues to be played on television so my daughter can see it too.
