Deserves better writing
11 October 2021
The villain - a pitiable, meager, and ugly man with an undefinable foreign accent - is perhaps one of the weakest of the entire Bond franchise. He is about as complex as a piece of cardboard, and neither sinister nor menacing. The dialogue in the film feels strange and unlike Bond's character. The new 007 (Naomi) is cool enough, but seems quite unlikeable. All in all it seemed like a lazily done Hollywood flick like any other. Get better writers!

Marvelous series. Decision to change the cast is sound.
22 November 2020
Definitely a sound decision to change the cast ever other season instead of going with kitschy ageing-CGI. Provides for better quality. The people whining about it should get over themselves

Brilliant observation on the complexity of human relationships. Deeply existential, warm, and hilarious. Highly recommended!

American Pie for adults

Not a second more intelligent than American Pie. Who tf wrote this script? Only difference is the acting is better. Would think higher of Scorsese than producing this self-indulgent, stupid garbage.

Intelligence, wit, tenderness and poetry

With his Pope duology Sorrentino does nothing short of bringing art into television. Sorrentino truly is a master of understanding humanity, just like Dostoyevsky, Kafka, Hamsun and others has done before him. A great contemporary artist.

Great show with the most unlikeable lead character ever
19 March 2020
The whole atmosphere and story is amazing, but I really can't figure out why the lead actor was chosen. She's as interesting as watching the grass grow, and as deep as a sheet of paper.

Mind blowing
6 March 2020
It's widely known that Germany has a reputation for paying a ridiculous amount of attention to detail in their cinematic productions. Dark is simply on another level. Season 1 is amazing. Season 2 is no less than mind blowing.

Acting performances are no less than sublime. The plot is well paced, amazingly smart, and ridiculously entertaining.

Truly a marvel of modern television; without hesitation one of the best series I've ever seen. I'd give this 11/10 if I could.

Don't miss it!

Solid entertainment
6 January 2020
Can't say I had high hopes for this movie, due to its somewhat dull premise and setting. I was pleasantly surprised - the movie turned very exiting after 20 minutes or so, without spoiling too much.

Big plus for the hyperrealistic tone of the movie - small, human mistakes turns into an easily believable catastrophic scenario. Characters and story is all very realistic, making for great suspenseful entertainment when things go wrong. Acting, pacing and visual effects is also all very well done. A small minus is some corny music and some characters acting stupid at times; though I wouldn't expect anything else from a big budget action movie.

8/10 recommended for anyone who likes a well done film about humans screwing up big time, solid entertainment

Joker (I) (2019)

A ridiculously uncomfortable film bound to become a modern classic
7 October 2019
Joker is bold, bizarre, and extremely uncomfortable to watch. Depicting madness and misery of this grandeur is no easy task, and though audiences are split, I found it mesmerizing. I've seen the film two times in the cinema now, and it left me feeling both uneasy and amazed both times. A rare piece of cinema, in other words. Also, big thumbs up for Phoenix being a certified legend, an Oscar is gonna come his way, I'm sure.

10/10 - Joker is absolutely nuts, go see it

Absolutely brilliant

Ari Aster emerges as a new master of horror. Shivers down my spine for two hours straight. Better than any other horror movie I've ever seen. This one shows the face of true, wretched, satanic evil. Absolutely brilliant!

A deeply philosophical masterpiece

I've seen this movie 4 times now, and it still captivates me every time. A complex and mesmerising work of cinema about beauty, humanity, and life itself. Simply a masterpiece of the rare kind.

Not a huge Marvel fan, but this movie is definitely worth a trip to the cinema
27 April 2019
You won't need a bachelor's degree in Marvel to see this movie, but some background information will definitely help, as the character gallery is gigantic. Arguably Black Panther, Thor, Doctor Strange and Infinity War are the most important to see.

Props for good acting, cool effects, and great pacing. The 3 hours of the movie went surprisingly fast.

As always the characters are invincible and can seemingly survive anything. That holds for those without superpowers as well. And, as you know they all have somewhat cringey humour, thus my deduction of two stars. Plot holes are also apparent. Though, I'll give the creators huge props for actually managing to stitch together a movie of these proportions in a somewhat coherent manner. The ending battle is also nothing short of epic.

So satanic I need to go to church and steal some holy water to cleanse myself
14 December 2018
I've seen my share of weird movies. To me, this movie was like seeing The Neon Demon mixed with Hereditary on some heavy steroids. Mind you, accompanied by Thom Yorkes riveting soundtrack. Some occult part of my dark soul swallowed it completely, while the human part of me was left in disgust.

Absolutely worth the watch if you consider yourself a movie-enthusiast. As for the original, I would say it's too different to give a proper comparison.

I deduct 3 stars for hubris of the director. 7 stars is given for evoking the audiences inner satanists. A must watch.
