Red, White and Brass (2023)
Refreshing and joyful
Just streamed this on Apple and it was such a pleasure. NZ is home to a multicultural melting pot including wonderful communities such as the Tongans. It's great to see such a film that celebrates their individuality and culture.
Lovely to see my hometown Poneke on a good day, and makes such a glorious backdrop to a proudly local production.
If you want to learn more about Kiwi diversity and how the kingdom of Tonga are proud members of our Pasfika culture and also demonstrates their passion for rugby, win, lose or draw.
Lovely cameos from Suzy Cato and Karen O'Leary, makes everyone's hearts sing but particularly the brass band!
The Twelve (2022)
Enjoyable with some great acting
Loved some of the actors in this story. About two episodes too long. Really enjoyed the jurors stories but the weakness, for me, was the crime itself. They spent so long building it up that it felt quite flat when it finally reached its conclusion. Thought the impact of the trial on the jurors is a relevant and interesting angle that they could have focused on more and less about whodunnit.
Great chemistry between Marta and Sam. And overall enjoyable but not perfect viewing. Quality Australian drama.
And whoever styled the art dealer should be shot - such a cliche. Those scarves were ridiculous.
Keep Breathing (2022)
Too long but I enjoyed the acting
Should have been edited down to four episodes worth a lot less flash backs. Got quite painful by the last one but I enjoyed parts. Beautiful scenery. And the main characters were fairly good but the problem was the length and the creepy guy for the first four chapters.
Thirteen Lives (2022)
Powerful and gripping story
Excellent acting, direction and cinematography. The story is so incredible that it's hard to believe it's all true. Great work. Kept me on the edge of my seat and I knew what happened!
Non-Stop (2014)
Great action flick that was thoroughly entertaining
I love really good action movies and Liam Neeson has truly become someone to watch. This movie was intense and kept you guessing through-out. It's not an Oscar winner rather an audience pleaser so if you go in remembering that you'll enjoy. As a female it was great to have Julianne Moore and Michelle Dockery represent with fairly substantial parts and not have to behave like some action-movie bimbos - very satisfying. Oh and the cameo from Anson Mount was appreciated as well! The best recommendation I can give is that my husband woke up this morning and said "I really enjoyed that movie last night and I'm quite surprised!"
