Captain Marvel (2019)
Not a Bad Introduction
I just watched the movie, and before that i didn't want to read any review, because i thought it will affect my viewpoint of the movie. Overall the movie is quite good (for a superhero movie), and as i just read a review that said Marvel Studio tried too hard to show that Captain Marvel is so strong, well, She is the strongest superhero in Marvel Universe, there's nothing wrong in the depiction. I don't really understand why there are so many bad reviews about it, but for me, Captain Marvel is quite good for an entry movie, or we can say, an introduction. Really.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Superhero Movie with a Style
Bored by live action movies full of CGI? Or bored by full 3D animation? Well, this movie is the answer, a comic-styled movie with a 3D animation. Personally, i already fell in love with the trailer, and i knew this movie will be big. It breaks the banalism of hollywood movie, out of the mainstream, takes the risk, and here it is, a superhero movie with a style. Absolutely recommended.
Merlí (2015)
Superb!
At first when i accidentally saw a thumbnail in a video sharing website about two young-good-looking boys looking at each other (probably in love) i thought it's going to be a soap opera cliché contained young gay story who are closeted, with its typical conflicts. I was wrong. Merlí is a 'rich' soap opera, whenever i watch the episodes it feels like i'm taking a class, studying Philosophy, and it is actually teach us about it indeed. Almost everything about this series is super, the directing, the acting, the soundtracks, plot, you name it. I really hope they will be released officially with English subtitle, but you may not be worried if you understand Spanish or Catalan because you can watch them in TV3's website. In summary, Merlí is a classy soap opera which highly recommended to watch. Salutació!
Rayya, Cahaya di Atas Cahaya (2012)
Smart Script, in a Beautiful Scenery
"Rayya Cahaya di Atas Cahaya" provides a new kind of movie, which you can rarely find nowadays. You will watch a theatrical performance in a movie, with a strong script, unique dialogue, and sometimes, poetry-like conversation. This movie also gives you a different viewpoint of how to deal with disappointment, sadness, and grudge, which Rayya and Arya try to cope. At first, the dialogue seemed unnatural (because of the poetry-like script), but eventually you will feel the flow of each dialogue Rayya and Arya do is so smartly interconnected, thanks to Tyo Pakusadewo (Arya) who successfully act as a patient middle-aged man who try to embrace a control-freak,emotional, and unstable young Rayya (Titi Rajo Bintang). The strength script of this movie is also boosted by a beautiful scenery of the plot taken place. Green, humble, and 'untouched' environment, become the background of this photographical movie. In summary, this movie exhibits a hybrid of theatrical performance and photographical showcase, which we quite hardly find in this era of commercialism.
