IMDbrief: After "Ozark" Watch These Shows (2020)
Simply superb!
Having recently read a user review by someone who feels that the characters in this are poor...Well, let me assure you, that's complete nonsense!
Ozarks is not only top class when it come to writing, production, story and acting. It is also top of the tree with direction, screenplay and character development!
It truly is in the top three of serial drama series available today. Genuinely up there with the Sopranos and Breaking Bad.
Absolute class/! Watch it and see for yourself!
Gentleman Jack (2019)
The Beeb have done it again!
Whatever your personal slant on the political bias and ethics of Old Auntie Beeb, one has to concede, that very like Mr Kiplings cakes, they do make exceedingly good dramas!
And this new offering, 'Gentleman Jack', is right up there..
Fast, dynamic, funny, cheeky, sad, you the viewer will run the whole gamut of emotions, watching each scintillating, titillating episode
Set in early 1800's Yorkshire and based on the prolific diaries of Anne Lister, the notorious landed 'gentrified' Lady, Suran Jones is perfect in the role of the rogue lesbian lead character. This combined with great screenplay, writing and a very talented supporting cast, make this another, top notch, cutting edge winner from the BBC.
Do yourself a faver old luv an gerrit watched!
Wolf Hall (2015)
This Wolf has teeth!
Whenever I am feeling that ''Auntie Beeb'' should ditch the license fee and like the rest of the Worlds media, embrace the joys of the advertising World. Suddenly, along pops a simply sublime offering of top class period drama like Wolf Hall.
The story is based around, that very tricky period in English history, which found King Henry VIII, wanting to trade up his old faithful model (Cathrine of Aragon) for a new sporty one (Ann Boleyn).
It closely follows the rise and rise of Putney boy made good, lawyer Thomas Cromwell and the crashing downfall of his mentor and master, poor old Cardinal Wolsley.
Now, with all that established, the sheer quality of the writing, screenplay and superb acting served up with this offering, make it possibly one of the greatest dramas that the BBC has ever produced!
I kid you not! Watch it and see...
Jekyll and Hyde (2015)
Utter Garbage!!
If you want a fair review of this crap-fest, just read all the previous 'honest' bad reviews on here and multiply them by by ten! This nonsense bears no discernible relationship whatsoever to the classic Robert L. Stevenson stage play. Its more like watching a terrible fusion of 'Sexton Blake' and 'Doctor Who'! From the totally ridiculous plots, over the top acting, and the rambling insane direction, I really struggled to find anything good to say about this. In the end I just gave up! So, in conclusion, if you wish to waste 10 or so hours of your life watching this farce, as well as the prospect of suffering serious eye bleed, then tune in and be damned. It is quite simply the epitome of bad. You have been warned!
Mr Selfridge (2013)
You cant please everybody!
As the old saying goes.. What the previous bad reviewers of this series are watching or expect, god alone knows!! This really is an excellent series! Brilliant acting, well scripted and directed and a great story to boot! Also, regarding Jeremy Priven, I personally think he is perfect playing the roll of the flamboyant American entrepreneur in a rather stayed post Edwardian London. Bearing all this in mind,Please don't allow the tiny number of pathetic, sad, need a life, armchair critics on here sway you from watching it. As you can certainly see yourself from the amount of people who truly don't agree their comments, they are definitely in the minority on this one!
Forever Green (1989)
Bring this little gem Back!!
Truly great series and lovely concept! Alderton and Collins were surely the greatest on screen actual man and wife pairing since Burton and Taylor. To that end, they convey so well in this,an escape to the rural idyll that so many of us urbanites desperately seek. A genuine life worth living. Beyond the mundane Rat Race and grind in which most of us today just survive in. This, along with certain other great series which also aired through the 80s and 90's, such as 'The Darling buds of May' and 'Lovejoy', certainly helped form what was a Golden age of family TV! All of these series superbly cast and equally well written. Overflowing with buckets of charm and sentimental nostalgia. Nowadays, certainly in my opinion at least, all totally deserving of a revamp and resurrection into Britains telly wasteland! Great stuff!!
