Harrowing. Dark. Brilliant.

I went to bed thinking about this show and finished it the next day as I couldn't think past.

This type of show will stay with you for a long time. I saw a reviewer say how stalkers are glamourised in media, think Netflix's You. This raw and haunting story of comedian Richard Gadd's real life experience of being stalked by a woman he met in a pub and befriended, shows a dark and refreshingly honest portrayal of a terrible stalking experience.

Not only do we see the reasons behind why he did what he did, why he didn't stop when all the signs where pointing to danger, but the background to Richard / Donny's life is so incredibly brave.

Rarely do we see this story line in the media happening to men, although it happens very frequently to women in movies and tv, and for that I think it will strike a chord with many people. I won't elaborate on this more without giving too much away.

To summarise, this show is a must watch, but be warned it is not an easy watch and should come with trigger warnings.

Lovely easy watch

Girl meets boy, they have an instant connection, and the movie follows their story in the space of a 24 hour period.

Fancy losing an hour+ to a feel good rom com that makes you appreciate those around you, and how short life is with loved ones? I definitely did and this was the perfect movie to put a smile on my face. The right amount of cute moments, but not overkill throughout, and a very natural chemistry between the two leads Hardy & Richardson led to a easy watch on a Sunday afternoon. Even teared up a bit at the end.

Would recommended if you're a romcom fan as this isn't just another crappy Netflix / lifetime style movie, It's worth your time.

Think Four weddings and a funeral vibes crossed with About Time.

What did I just watch

Two eps in and this show makes me feel physically sick it's so bad. I don't believe Lily Rose Depp, as a self respecting human woman, actually read this script and said 'yep, love it, sign me up!'.

The painful element is that the Jocelyn storyline, her mother dying and her turmoil at trying to climb back up the fame ladder surrounded by a questionable and at times, empathetic team, is watchable! I actually care about this, I want more backstory to the characters, what happened to her mum, the intricacies of her life. The Tedros/Weeknd character storyline however is simply grim. He brings a try-hard male gaze, over sexualised nothing-ness to the show, that is irrelevant to who Joss is to the point I just ended up fast forwarding his scenes. Honestly not worth the watch for this alone. I hope for everyone's sake this show gets canceled.

Dead Ringers (2023)

Brilliant

I genuinely am baffled by the low reviews here. They seem to stem from those disappointed by the remake of the original movie so I'll start off by saying I've never watched nor heard of the movie Dead Ringers, so went into this completely blind. Rachel is absolutely fantastic playing the two opposite twins with a complex and at times, questionable relationship. The show is dark yet with sprinklings of comedy, the characters are prickly, and the storyline's are sometimes shocking and overall leaves you feeling like you've seen something you shouldn't have and wanting more. I've only watched ep 1 but I'm hooked and can't wait to devour the rest of the show.

Beautifully done

Wow I loved this completely. As a 20 something living in London in 2012 I felt everything about this show as of it were written about me. The focus on female friendship is perfect and so overlooked in romantic genres today, the storyline between birdy and Maggie brought a tear to my eye. You can see Dolly all over the production of this too, and it's fantastic as expected. Let's hope they renew it for a second season.
