The 1% Club (2024)
Slow and Remarkably Boring
I like Patton Oswalt but he can't make a 100 fake smiling laughing people interesting. There is a ridiculous amount of filler asking the contestants "get to know you" questions. They are randos - I don't care to know them. Every question just drags out to the point where I just fast forward in between each question. Patton isn't funny enough to carry this if this is the format they are sticking with.
Password, another recent gameshow in comparison is filled with laughs and good times. This is just people smiling, fake laughs (password too) and bad conversation.
The questions and concept of show seem fine, it's just not entertaining.
Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain (2023)
Super fun! Really enjoyed this
First let me say Conan O'Brien was freaking fantastic. I wish he had been doing more comedy in movies all along cuz his role here just had me smiling every time he was on screen. The trio were great and stuck pretty solidly with their own brand of humor that they're known for so they don't stray too far from that. The story was fun and their little adventures made for an entertaining movie. I like that they didn't have to resort to gross out humor or super embarrassing awkward comedy. They stuck with just clever writing and good friendship. I would recommend this to anybody who enjoys a good buddy comedy.
The Idol (2023)
Boring
The first half started off pretty good watching her team work around different problems. Kind of like an old school workplace drama / comedy. Then it just gets tediously boring as you watch Jocelyn make bad decisions that you really don't even care about. Watching the last 20 minutes of the first episode was just dreadfully painful as ut just dragged out into essentially nothing.
The Weeknd is a creep - just the idea that Jocelyn would fall for such an obviously sleazy low rent guy with a rat tail makes the show less believable. He's a gross bottom feeder and it doesn't make any sense. At least in fifty shades of Gray the guy at least had the illusion of being awesome and powerful... This guy is just gross and her falling for his shtick makes her gross.
Digman! (2023)
Goofy and Fun!
I thought the show was great. They clearly put a lot of work into throwing as many jokes as they could into the writing. I love that the show doesn't try to get deep or meaningful or serious, there's too much of that in the world. The show is just good fun.
Andy does an amazing job as usual but his assistant was really fantastic and really lifted the show. I love the storyline - the idea that "Arkies" are like rock stars. I feel like he could tone down the Nic Cage stuff but it really works for the character...otherwise I guess it would just be Andy being Andy.
After one episode I am genuinely interested and seeing where the story and characters go.
MacGruber (2021)
It's like if MacGruber was a TV Series...it's great
This is super straight forward. If you enjoyed the movie MacGruber, then you should truly enjoy the hell out of this because it's so very much like the movie. It's fantastic. I loved the movie and love the show. Will is amazing as always and they've got almost the whole cast. So happy this exists.
F9 (2021)
The makers think you are dumb
Thats the only explanation for something as dumb as this movie. The stunt/special effects were simply the worst ever. It's like the creators said hey - the audience is just so stupid that no one will question the many many many flaws in our science and logic.
Drinking game - any time family or family titles (ie dad, mom, son, brother) take a shot...you will get super messed up...maybe it'll make the movie better cuz its just soooo bad.
