What Jennifer Did (2024)
I really wanted to love this... but...
I watched and enjoyed this 'documentary,' it is a very interesting murder mystery case. As a documentary is about uncovering and presenting the TRUTH to the audiance.
The images presented in "What Jennifer Did" (terrible title, by the way, removes all suspense from the viewer within the first five minutes of the film because we already know who did it.) The images of Jennifer, however, have turned out to be A. I. generated.
Presenting doctored images of a real life murderer on what is supposed to be a factual depiction of events undermines and undercuts the entire point of a documentary. The filmmakers have not only spread misinformation (even if it is only minor), they have undermined their purpose, and also delegitimized the actual victims of this crime.
Netflix continues to prove to me they are against the artist, they have no hindsight, and they are anti-human in many ways. Will not be watching anything from these filmmakers ever again.
The Exorcist: Believer (2023)
A desecration of the source material.
Blumhouse ruins yet another horror franchise with David Gordon Green at the helm. The acting is fine, the writing is awful. This studio is scared of its own shadow, for a horror production company, they seem unaware of how to use silence. This movie is all sound design. The music tells us how to feel in every moment, there is no room for imagination or suspense. Chris MacNeil mine as well not be in this. She plays no significant role and is only there because this studio thinks for some reason, that's fan service. I left this movie literally angry. The people responsible for this should be ashamed of themselves. What a waste of time and money and such a lack of respect for the filmmakers they are standing on the shoulders of. Horrendous. Avoid at all costs.
Scary Movie (2000)
What are you waiting for!?
Oh stop criticizing this movie. If you have seen the movies Scary Movie spoofs on, the joke-per-minute ratio in this classic slapstick comedy is unmatched. This is guaranteed to make you laugh if you're a fan of horror, especially Scream. Just sit back and enjoy, and remember, the Wayne's Brother's was a good show!
Shameless: We Few, We Lucky Few, We Band of Gallaghers! (2019)
Dear Shameless Writers...
Any Shameless (US) fan at this point is frustrated with this show. Seasons' 1-4 are perfect. Seasons 5-6 were very good. Seasons 7, 8, and 9 have been absolutely awful, consistently undermining their own characters at every turn. The writing has been more scattered than Frank's brain. Emmy Rossum leaving and I thought, "This has gotta be it."
But low and behold, Showtime insists on bringing Shameless back. It took me a while to watch this episode, as a die-hard fan, it has been difficult watching a show I've been so deeply invested in for years decline so badly.
I will admit, my expectations were low once I finally got around to it this week, but to my delight, it was a strong opening episode for season 10. The creators owe it to the fan-base to finish strong.
But please, unless this season knocks my socks off, and I mean rocks my entire world every Sunday night, this has to be the last season. I don't know how much more they could do. Fiona was the only character working toward something, and she is gone now. Ian is in Jail. Frank is Frank. Lip now has a new child he will be taking care of (possibly alone?), Debby is welding her life away, Carl is graduating in disgrace. WHERE ARE THEY GOING?????
And then there's Vee and Kev, my favorite TV couple ever. They have no money, Kevin has to attend Daddy's night just to get shoes. But how much longer can we hang out in the Alabai with them?
This show is kinda like the drugs it depicts. It starts great, gets really bad, really quick, but you can't stop because it's addictive.
Look Shameless writers, what I'm saying is, we're your audience to lose.
