When bad man and rancher Jim Henson falls in love with Bess, daughter of Willard the Agency storekeeper on the Blackfoot Reservation, he goes straight to her father and says, "I'm going to marry your gal, or bust you up in business." Willard, a mild-mannered man, is brow-beaten into influencing Bess, despite her dislike for Henson, to consent to marry him. Like most men of his stamp, Jim Henson is quick-tempered, and discovering Bess has taken a liking to Colby, the new store clerk from the East. Jim is furious. He warns the easterner to keep away from "his gal." Bess and the young Easterner fall in love, however, and decide to run away together. Henson is on the lookout, and catches them. He marches them back to her father and sends Colby a note saying he is coming to kill him at 6:00 that night. The Easterner is no coward, but he can't hit the broad side of a barn with a pistol, so it looks bad for him. That afternoon a pony belonging to Gray Antelope, one of the Reservation Indians, breaks into Henson's grain field, and creates havoc. In an outburst of anger, the rancher raises his rifle and kills the horse. Gray Antelope demands payment for the animal, but Henson sneeringly tosses him a dollar and rides away after shooting the Indian's hat off. Gray Antelope swears vengeance, calls the other braves, and the result is Henson is ambushed and captured. Bound hand and foot, he is tied by a long rope to the tail of a horse. The animal is lashed into a mad gallop, and watching their enemy being dragged through dust and over rocks, the Indians know their revenge is complete. Exactly at 6:00 the horse arrives at the agency store, dragging the body. Henson is dead, his vengeance intercepted by the vengeance of the Indians, and at last is seen Gray Antelope tenderly stroking the head of his dead pony.
