Marie Eline sees the circus parade down the town and decides to run away and be an rider of elephants. When she is discovered, she is handed over to Frank Hall Crane, who charms her with a slice of bread. But there's dirty doings afoot, and only Marie to stop them.
The young child actress is pretty broad in her performanc,e and features to the camera a lot, which is still cute. The elaborate, painted coaches of the American circus -- actually Barnum & Bailey -- makes me nostalgic for a circus I never knew. When I went to the circus in the late 1950s, we went to Madison Square Garden. Surely a parade of coaches,camels, elephants and zebras down 5th Avenue would have been even better advertising than TV!
