Kimberly Williams-Paisley reunited with her onscreen father and wedding planner over the weekend.
The 45-year-old actress snapped a photo between with her Father of the Bride co-stars, Steve Martin and Martin Short, on Sunday night, writing: "Loved seeing my former costars @SteveMartinToGo & @themartinshort at the Opryhouse tonight for their show in #Nashville."

Martin -- who portrayed Williams-Paisley's dad, George Banks, in the Father of the Bride films -- is currently on a comedy tour with Short -- who played the hilarious wedding planner, Franck Eggelhoffer, in the beloved 1991 and 1995 movies.
In an exclusive interview with Et last year, Martin addressed rumors that there will be a third Father of the Bride film. "I don't think that's gonna happen," he admitted. "I'd have to play a grandfather -- do I want to do that? Yeah, of course I do, but I think we've seen enough."

The Nancy Meyers- and Charles Shyer-written (and Shyer-directed) remake of Father of the Bride, starring Steve Martin as the titular dad, hit theaters 25 years ago on Tuesday, Dec. 20.
The 1991 version, an update on the 1950 Spencer Tracy-Elizabeth Taylor film of the same name, follows Martin's George Banks as he deals with the unexpected wedding of his 22-year-old daughter, Annie (Kimberly Williams-Paisley, then just Kimberly Williams), to Bryan MacKenzie (George Newbern), whom she met while studying abroad. Diane Keaton plays Nina Banks, the mother of the bride, while Martin Short has a scene-stealing role as the oddly accented...

Every party has a pooper and that's why we invited you, George Banks! It was 25 years ago today that the nation first learned that glorious rendition of the classic song. 25 years ago that we realized cake could be pronounced both "cayke" and "cahk." 25 years ago that we learned Armani doesn't make a navy blue tuxedo. 25 years ago that we learned that our own parents weren't the only ones who went crazy over nothing. 25 years ago that, as George Banks would say, the storm broke. Father of the Bride was an instant classic. It didn't quite match the critical success of its peers that year (The Silence of the Lambs and Beauty and the Beast, to name a few), but it launched...

Don't even try to pretend like you didn't daydream about living in this house as a child. We all know and love the Father of the Bride movies for so many reasons. For George Banks (a.k.a. Steve Martin's) obnoxiously adorable neurosis. For Annie Banks' kick-ass wedding sneakers. For Nina Banks' amazing mom skills. For Ohhhh hello! That's five months! But mostly, we loved that house. As in, really loved it. 24 Maple Drive was everything we all wanted in a childhood home—and often pretended that we actually had. The green shutters, the tree where they carved their initials, the basketball court where you could solve all of life's problems...it was all pure magic. And...

Steve Martin was honored on Thursday with the AFI Life Achievement Award, and while many of his famous pals came out to celebrate, there was one special guest that quickly stole the show: Martin Short. Steve and Martin, who costarred as George Banks and Franck Eggelhoffer in Father of the Bride and Father of the Bride Part II, got up to their old tricks on June 4 while walking the red carpet. Steve and Martin posed for hilarious photos, cracked each other up, and linked arms while making their way inside the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Diane Keaton, who played Steve's wife in the hit films, was also on hand to honor her longtime friend. But the night wasn't all about the funny duo. In addition to their cute reunion, the ceremony turned into one big Hollywood date night. Steve and his wife, Anne Stringfield, shared some adorable moments inside the theater,...

In the 1995 sequel to the charming 1991 comedy, Father of the Bride, a crazed George Banks (Steve Martin) is thrown into a dizzy (his default state, at least going on his behavior in the previous film) when he discovers that both his wife (Diane Keaton) and his daughter (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) are pregnant at the exact same time. George, never one to roll with the punches, freaks the heck out and is only cowed when Keaton’s ever-lovely Nina kicks him out and he gets a glimpse of what his life would look like without her (and, because he’s behaved so badly, probably also without their kids, their grandkids, and their sweet son-in-law). Nina is the brains of the Banks operation, a steadying force that somehow manages to weather every storm with grace and style. George, well, isn’t like that at all. The formula for the second Father of the Bride film wasn’t entirely original — again...

Did you think that the Father of the Bride franchise had run its course after two films? Did you?! Well, you were wrong, because George Banks (Steve Martin) and family are back again for yet another wedding in Father of the Bride 3. This time it’s the Banks’ son Matty about to get hitched and here’s the twist: it’s totally to a guy!
That’s right, Father of the Bride 3 will tackle the subject of gay marriage in its next iteration. Matty is now 29 years old and about to marry the love of his life: the son of a U.S. Navy Seal. This being a Hollywood comedy, of course Papa Banks is a bit shocked by the whole thing because…he didn’t know his son was gay? Something like that. Anyways, he’s “thunderstruck” by the marriage, resulting in comedic shenanigans and assuredly some nice, charming...

Steve Martin is rumoured to be reprising his role as George Banks, the eponymous "Father" in the Father of the Bridemovies, in the soon-to-be in-production Father of the Bride 3. This would be Martin’s first film role since receiving his honourary Oscar from the Academy Awards in 2013 for his contributions to comedy.
The alleged twist in the next Father of the Bride sequel is that the film will focus on George’s gay son, Matty (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World’s Kiernan Culkin) and his upcoming nuptials to a Navy Seal’s son. Charles Shyer will return to write and direct, but no cast members have been confirmed as of yet. Here’s hoping Culkin, Martin Short, and Diane Keaton will also sign up for the sequel.

It's currently being reported that Steve Martin will be reprising his role as cynical businessman George Banks in Father of the Bride 3.
Martin is tipped to return alongside Diane Keaton as wife Nina Banks in the comedy, which will see the couple's son Matty revealing his plans to marry the son of a Us Navy Seal.
1991's Father of the Bride was based on the 1950 movie of the same, while 1995's sequel was loosely based on 1951's Father's Little Dividend.
As we anticipate a potential Part III, catch up on the major stars' exploits since - and compare how they looked then and now:
Steve Martin
Steve Martin - already an established Hollywood name before Father of the Bride - plays hapless patriarch George Banks, who suffers a series of ridiculous misfortunes (and a mild breakdown - the too-plentiful pack of hotdogs springs to mind) after his daughter announces that she's getting married.

Are you ready for Father of the Groom? Nearly 20 years have passed since Steve Martin and Diane Keaton welcomed babies in the 1995 sequel to their hit comedy Father of the Bride. Disney and Warner Bros. would like to get the ball rolling on a potential Father of the Bride 3, but with a major twist. According to Nikki Finke, the young son, Matty, is older and gay, and planning a wedding with the son of a Navy Seal. Hilarity ensues. Kieran Culkin, younger brother of Macauley Culkin, played young Matty Banks in the original, 1991 Father of the Bride and its 1995 sequel. And seeing as how he is 31 in real life, there.s no reason to think he couldn.t continue the part in Father of the Bride 3, though there is no mention of him in Finke.s report. She does, however, point out that in true George Banks fashion, he is...

According to Nikki Finke, who's feeling especially snarky lately, there may be a third Father of The Bride film coming out (literally, and figuratively). The 1991 Charles Shyer movie- which was a remake of the 1950 Spencer Tracey film- was a big hit, and spawned a sequel that came four years later. Now, nearly twenty years later, there's talk that Steve Martin has been lured away from his current folk music touring career to play George Banks once more. This time, there'd be a twist.
Finke's source is claiming that his son, played in the first two films by Kieran Culkin, will now be fully grown up, gay, and getting ready to marry a Navy Seal's son. George is flabbergasted by this development, doesn't know how to deal with it, and is thrown out of the house by his wife (Diane Keaton). The film would likely center on George trying to get...

It seems appropriate that Nikki Finke brought news yesterday of the revival of another 90s franchise. But this time it doesn't involved monsters, superheroes, aliens or anything with blockbuster flair. Instead, Steve Martin is returning for Father of the Bride 3, a sequel to follow the first two film's from 1991 and 1995 respectively. However, Nancy Meyers won't be coming back to direct this time, and it will be the first two films' screenwriter Charles Shyer writing and directing the sequel. And this time, the story will have a relevant gay marriage twist with Martin's son Matty as the one getting married to the son of a Us Navy Seal. And for anyone who has seen the first Father of the Bride films, you can probably guess that George Banks (Martin) doesn't handle the news very well as a conservative, traditionalist. The father is "thunderstruck and speechless" about his son's revelation, so much...

Walt Disney passed away December 15, 1966, and in the decade that followed, the Walt Disney Company struggled to define itself. Should the company stay beholden to Walt and his vision, asking themselves what Walt would do, or should they take the opportunity to try something new? The decades that followed Walt’s death were a mix of trying to recreate old magic and experimenting with new genres and styles.
Good – Bedknobs and Broomsticks
In Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Disney was returning to a tried-and-true formula, one that had worked beautifully in Mary Poppins. The screenplay was based on a book series by an English children’s author, the story of a magical woman and the children under her care. Mary Poppins’ director Robert Stevenson helmed the project, which combined live action and animation. Robert and Richard Sherman, the team responsible for Mary Poppins as well as numerous other classic Disney songs, wrote the music and lyrics.

Saving Mr. Banks
Written by Kelly Marcel and Sue Smith
Directed by John Lee Hancock
USA, 2013
“They said only God could make a tree,” Walt Disney says proudly as he strolls down Main Street, U.S.A. in the Disneyland theme park, late in Saving Mr. Banks. Walt, as he prefers to be known, gladhands all the park guests who recognize him from his years of hosting the Disneyland TV series as well as from being the man in charge of many of the heroes and villains of 20th-century America’s collective childhood. He’s in the park this day, showing off his facsimile creation of the ultimate small town to the rigid and distant British author P.L. Travers. So, yes, it was once said that only God was capable of creating life, but at Disneyland, even the next-best thing appears to be satisfactory enough to qualify as a deity.

Mary Poppins (1964) was a first for me in two ways: one of the earliest movies I can remember seeing in a theater (I was five years old when it was reissued in 1973 and the Rialto Cinema in Westfield, New Jersey, the theater where I saw it, is actually one of the few remaining theaters from that era that is still in business) and one of the first movies I saw played back on a Vcr (in 1980). I could hardly believe my eyes at age 5 and wondered just how in the world Mary Poppins (she is never, ever to be called just “Mary”), the chimney sweeper, and her two young charges managed to make their way into the sidewalk paintings with all of the colorful characters. 40 years later, I could pretty much figure it out for myself having seen many behind-the-scenes documentaries. Who knew that George Banks' adorable daughter Annie and her husband Bryan Mackenzie would eventually end up playing characters you (sort of) hate on the same network years down the road after the chipper chicken has been set aside! Geez, Franck must be losing his mind right about now. About 22 years after the 1991 film Father of the Bride premiered, Kimberly Williams-Paisley and George Newbern are now guest starring on Nashville and Scandal. They may not be playing wholesome roles like before, but their intriguing characters Peggy Kenter and Charlie have stood out in each ABC series.

Steve Martin returns as shoemaker George Banks, the protective father unable to accept the reality of his daughter (Kimberly Williams) becoming a wife. Having survived her marriage in the original film, he must now come to terms with her pregnancy. A worthy sequel, this sees Martin and his co-star Diane Keaton on tremendous form, especially when, she too, reveals she's in the family way.

Colin Farrell has reportedly joined the cast of Saving Mr Banks, a film charting the story of Pl Travers, who sold Disney the rights to her work Mary Poppins. The actor will star alongside Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks (who are to play Travers and Walt Disney respectively) for the feature, which is due to start production this autumn. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Farrell will play Travers's father, who was the inspiration for the character of George Banks in her story. The script is said to shift back and forth between 1961 and 1907, covering the writer's childhood in rural Queensland and her later negotiations with Disney executives. (more)...

Normally, .Colin Farrell. and .Disney. wouldn.t go together in the same sentence. We.re far more used to seeing the handsomely scruffy Irishman in foul-mouthed comedies like In Bruges or slick action thrillers like this summer.s Total Recall. But this bit of casting news has us very excited for a family-friendly project that might actually lead to a fresh take on a familiar classic. Farrell is the latest name added to Saving Mr. Banks, a behind-the-scenes drama starring Tom Hanks as Walt Disney and Emma Thompson as Australian author P.L. Travers, who sold Disney the rights to make a film out of her work Mary Poppins. According to Deadline, Farrell will play Travers. father, the inspiration for the workaholic characer George Banks in the famous musical. Given Farrell.s age, in relation to Thompson, we.re guessing that means he.ll be featured in flashbacks? Anything.s ...

The release of the blu-ray 20th Anniversary Edition of Father of the Bride and Father of the Bride: Part II brings to mind two divergent thoughts: 1) Steve Martin and Martin Short are brilliant, and 2) Has it been 20 years already? The Father of the Bride series is one of those likable franchises that you probably only watch if they’re on TV and the remote is just out of reach, but in watching these movies again with fresh eyes it’s easy to see why someone might still care about the Banks family after all these years. Steve Martin plays George Banks, an overprotective, likable husband and father who must come to grips with his “baby girl” getting married.

There's a lot of crazy preparation that goes into planning a single wedding, along with a ton of money from mommy and daddy in order to afford it half of the time. As joyous of an occasion the ceremony may appear to be, it's more or less one of the most stressful, hair-pulling times in a person's life, or at least that's what film leads us to believe. The engagement-to-wedding road has been thrown onto film so many times it could take the form of persons and fill up an entire Disneyland park. Despite that, it's still such a juicy kind of topic that many films love to twist around throughout the decades due to the endless acts of mayhem that could happen between a man getting down on one knee to when he finally says "I do." That's why there's a considerable few disasters that have taken place during...

In honor of the royal nuptials tomorrow, we thought we would look at some of the best wedding movies in recent years. Although none of these films even come close to the grandeur and regal nature of Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding, it's a great way to get into the mood.

While it may seem like celebrities are quitting Twitter left and right, many believe that it’s best to be fashionably late and are just now jumping on the Twitter bandwagon. Steve Martin is the latest mega-celebrity to start a Twitter account, using his @SteveMartinToGo handle to pontificate on life, and of course, crack some jokes. This, PopWatchers, is the beauty of the Twitter Circle of Life; when some celebrities quit, others begin their Twitter journey. And Steve Martin Tweeting? This is a major Twitter upgrade.

During last night's premiere of Parenthood, and the long awaited return of Lauren Graham to my weekly television schedule, I couldn't help but tear up during scenes between Adam (Peter Krause) and his son Max. I may just be a big ol' sap, but it got me thinking about some of my favorite parent characters, like Atticus Finch (Gregory Peck) from To Kill a Mockingbird and George Banks from Father of the Bride (Steve Martin). If given the choice, who would I love to grow up with? Who would instill the best life lessons? Teach me how to ride a bike?...

A better title but one that might not be favored by writer-director Nancy Meyers would be .It.s Old-Hat.. This cliché-ridden, overlong romantic comedy with its haute bourgeois personalities appears to have much in common with some of Woody Allen.s works, given the financially successful albeit neurotic people on display, though this time there are no nerds as such. Meyers. output, which mirrors the themes found here, includes her remake of .Father of the Bride..about one George Banks, an ordinary, middle-class man whose 21 year-old daughter Annie has decided to marry a man from an upper-class family--has George thinking that life without his daughter would not be worth living. "We had so much fun writing Love Child," says Robert Stanton. "We had a blast. But I'd be disingenuous if I said I didn't think of it as an acting showcase." Performing in the play was neither his nor co-writer Daniel Jenkins' initial ambition, but as the project progressed, playing 20 characters in a work about theatre seemed the natural thing to do. Now running in repertory Off-Broadway with Lee Blessing's A Body of Water, the comic two-hander depicts an Off-Off-Broadway troupe mounting the Greek tragedy Ion by Euripides. Beleaguered actor-manager Joel is "struggling to figure out who his family is and where he fits in," says Jenkins, who plays him and other characters. "One of the themes is family. This is about a theatre family, and as we know, it frequently becomes a dysfunctional family. What we look at here is, how does it work? How is it a blessing?...

With a title like ‘Top 10 Best Romantic Comedy Movies’ there are bound to be certain… expectations. Let’s get this out of the way: there will be no films on this list that feature Matthew McConaughey or Hugh Grant. None. If that seems ridiculous/prejudiced/impossible to you… well, sorry.
So without further ado, here are the best romantic comedies. In date order.
The Apartment (1960)
Boy Meets Girl
C.C. Baxter works for an insurance company and has a major crush on Fran Kubelik, an elevator operator in his office building. Baxter’s a shy sort of fellow, lacking the confidence to ask out Miss Kubelik. His somewhat timid disposition is exploited by superiors at his workplace, who use his apartment to conduct extra-marital affairs. The arrangement results in his promotion, which bolsters his confidence, and he invites Miss Kubelik to see a play with him.
