Grief is a complicated emotion. People say that what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, but what if you can go back and change the past? In today’s Aporia trailer, Judy Greer plays a mother devastated by loss who alters time and space to change the course of history. However, manipulating the laws of time is dangerous, and the results could be worse than the event you hoped to change.
In the Aporia trailer, Greer’s Sophie learns about a secret time machine built by her husband’s best friend, played by Payman Maadi. Sophie thinks she can bring her husband back after he dies in a tragic drunk-driving accident, but the consequences of her actions could lead to losing her teenage daughter or worse.
Jared Moshe directs from his own script, with Greer, Edi Gathegi, Payman Maadi, and Faithe Herman starring as the main cast.

Xyz Films and Finland-based venture capital firm Ipr.Vc have joined forces to raise a $100m fund that will be utilized to back a slate of genre pictures.
The money will fund 15-20 features and will focus on filmmaker-driven independent genre fare. It gives Xyz more muscle to fully-finance in-house.
The move is the latest in a busy year for Xyz, with the company having also established a talent management division with the hiring of former Universal & ICM Exec Peter Van Steemburg in June. Xyz also hired Tatyana Joffe as its President of International Sales & Distribution back in January.
“Our model has always been making responsibly-budgeted films from filmmakers we want to support. With funding from Ipr, we can now be a one-stop shop for production, distribution and financing,” said Xyz partners Nate Bolotin, Nick Spicer, and Aram Tertzakian.
The deal was negotiated by Maxime Cottray for Xyz Films and by Elisa Alvares for Ipr.

Breaking: For the second time this Berlinale, Magnolia Pictures has bagged U.S. rights to a NordiskTrust film from a sizzle reel. Magnolia has secured the Norwegian thriller Pioneer, which is being produced by Christian Fredrik Martin from Friland Film, the team behind Morten Tyldum’s 2011 sleeper Headhunters, which Magnolia also released. The deal comes right after Magnolia wrapped up a deal for Lars von Trier’s provocative film Nymphomaniac. The Pioneer deal was negotiated between Magnolia’s Dori Begley and Peter van Steemburg and TrustNordisk’s Rikke Ennis and Susan Wendt. Directed by Erik Skjoldbærg, the film stars Aksel Hennie, Wes Bentley and Stephen Lang in a high-octane conspiracy thriller inspired by 70s classics The Conversation, Three Days Of The Condor and Chinatown. The director helmed Insomnia. Miss Bala‘s Stephanie Sigman, Jonathan Lapaglia, Andre Eriksen, Jørgen Langhelle, Ane Dahl Torp, Eirik Stubø and David A. Jørgensen are also in the cast.
