Summer school begins early this year.
No, you won’t be challenged with tests or catching and marking grasshoppers, but you will feel forced to sit through class nonetheless when the next generation of Pretty Little Liars returns with their own type of Summer School.
This season discusses the classic movie trope with which Pretty Little Liars has become synonymous — the final girl.
TV Fanatic had the opportunity to get in front of the cast and creators for a little Q&a, and they did the best they could to entertain and tease without spoiling too much — just as we like it.
We first spoke to the group that not only has answers but who makes the decisions. Creators Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring were joined by Pll mom Sharon Leal.

As a result, they have to attend summer school to help brighten their prospects.
For the teenagers who want to spend their summer relaxing and having fun, it’s the worst news ever.
Original star Annabeth Gish is returning as Dr. Anne Sullivan, the therapist who helped the original crop of liars through the trauma they endured being stalked by A.

The slashing that began with “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” will continue in Max’s upcoming “Pretty Little Liars: Summer School,” and Cosmopolitan unveiled first look images at the upcoming second season that promises to go bigger and badder on the slasher sequel mayhem.
“Pretty Little Liars: Summer School” is set to return later this Spring on Max, with first look images below.
Co-Creators Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (“Riverdale,” “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”) and Lindsay Calhoon Bring (“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”) co-executive produced and wrote the new series.
Season 1 picked up 20 years after a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Exclusive: Mallory Bechtel (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin) has landed a role opposite Paul Mescal, Ben Platt and Beanie Feldstein in Richard Linklater’s feature adaptation of Merrily We Roll Along, the classic musical from Stephen Sondheim and George Furth.
Details as to her role haven’t been disclosed.
Merrily follows Franklin Shepard, who after establishing himself as a talented composer of Broadway musicals, abandons his friends and songwriting career to become a producer of Hollywood movies. The story takes place over 20 years, and Linklater will shoot the film over the same time span, taking a page from his playbook on the Oscar-nominated Boyhood, shot over 12 years.
With a book by Furth and music and lyrics by Sondheim, the musical is based on the 1934 play of the same name by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. It ran for 44 previews and 16 performances on Broadway in 1981 and recently returned to The Great White Way,...

Production on Pretty Little Liars: Summer School is officially underway, and there will be a major throwback to the original series.
HBO Max confirmed Friday that Annabeth Gish would be returning as Dr. Sullivan for the second chapter of the reboot series.
If you watch Pretty Little Liars online, you know fans had theories about the doctor on multiple occasions throughout the original Freeform series.
Thankfully, Dr. Sullivan was just doing her job and attempted to help the liars process their trauma.
Given that Gish is playing the same character here, it should be more of the same.
On Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin Season 1, we were introduced to six new liars who were caught up in a deadly game with A.
Bailee Madison played Imogen Adams, Chandler Kinney as Tabby Haworthe, Zaria as Faran Bryant, Malia Pyles as Minnie "Mouse" Honrada, Maia Reficco as Noa Olivar, and Mallory Bechtel as Kelly Beasley.

The December holidays are all about gathering together for good times with family and/or loved ones – so it’s totally appropriate that A24 has decided to celebrate the holidays this year by offering a gingerbread house kit inspired by an A24 film that is all about family: writer/director Ari Aster’s 2018 horror debut Hereditary (watch it Here). For the price of 62, the company is selling the Hereditary Gingerbread Treehouse Kit, and you can purchase it at This Link. Images of the kit can be seen at the bottom of this article.
Described as “a nightmare vision of a domestic breakdown”, Hereditary has the following synopsis: When Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away, her daughter’s family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited.

“Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” has been renewed for a second season at HBO Max.
The show’s 10-episode first season, which premiered in July, is described as a “coming-of-age, horror-tinged drama” that is set miles away from the original I. Marlene King-created Freeform series’ hometown of Rosewood, but within the existing “Pretty Little Liars” universe.
Co-created by “Riverdale” and “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring, the new “Pretty Little Liars” series tells the story of a series of tragic events that “almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart 20 years ago,” and how now, in present day, a “disparate group of teen girls — a brand-new set of Little Liars — find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin committed by their parents two decades ago…as well as their own,” per HBO Max.

The first five blood soaked episodes of “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” left big shoes for its latter half to fill. While episodes 1-5 were filled with flashbacks galore, character introductions, and a trail of corpses in A’s wake, episodes 6-10 plants us much more in the present, with explorations of the conflicts facing both the liars and their parents, and a deeper dive into the investigation of A. While the back half of “Original Sin” improves upon some of its preceding episodes’ shortcomings, it was also inflicted with the slasher curse of not quite sticking the landing. While the revelations are shocking, it stretches reality a bit too far at times to tie up all of its loose ends, leading to an ending that feels a bit rushed.
With all that said, beware of major spoilers below!
Starting with the positives, “Original Sin’s” back half is where its characters shine the most.

HBO Max’s Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin season one episode seven opens with Elodie (Lea Salonga) receiving her first communication from A. It’s a flyer for the Millwood Carnival in 1999 and on the back, it reads: “Meet me in the hall of mirrors.”
A flashback shows Elodie (Emily Bautista) and Angela (Gabriella Pizzolo) running through the hall of mirrors. They begin to kiss and Davie (Ava DeMary) catches them. Elodie backs away and asks Angela what she’s doing, adding, “Did you see that, Davie? How she attacked me?”
Davie warns Angela, “Well, don’t think you can come on to me next.”
Present-day Elodie burns the flyer.
Imogen (Bailee Madison) and Tabby (Chandler Kinney) learn from Faran that her mom’s been discharged from the hospital.

At the end of “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin,” Bailee Madison’s Imogen finally gave birth after a final battle with “A” — who turned out to be none other than Angela Waters’ twin brother. While Imogen thought about raising her child, who we now know was conceived from her sexual assault, she ultimately chooses to put her child up for adoption. But Madison thinks that, even without her baby, Imogen’s trauma will remain.
“I don’t think that ever goes away. I mean, what she had to go through, that exposing feeling of giving birth, all the trauma from her mom, all the trauma from ‘A,'” Madison told TheWrap. “I’m excited to see her get to try to figure out what that looks like for herself and in a way where she isn’t lacking support.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin Season 1 finale.] Though it looked like all the major villains of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin would all make it through the season alive, that changed in the final scenes — and it had to end that way, according to co-creators Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring. The final episodes revealed that Chip (Carson Rowland) was the one who raped Imogen (Bailee Madison) and Tabby (Chandler Kinney), Sheriff Beasley (Eric Johnson) raped Angela in high school, and A stood out for Archie Waters, Angela’s sister. Their father, the mastermind, was Principal Clanton (Robert Stanton). While Imogen did stab Archie during their final confrontation, he survived — and broke free in the hospital, killing the deputy watching him and Sheriff Beasley before going to take out Chip. Aguirre-Sacasa and Calhoon Bring discuss those deaths, bringing Kelly (Mallory Bechtel) into the Losers Club, and more. Chip is dead? Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa: ...

Mallory Bechtel pulled double duty for HBO Max’s “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin,” playing twins Karen and Kelly Beasley. While Karen died in Episode 2, the rest of the season toyed with whether Kelly was really the twin who was still alive, or if it was Karen all along. For Bechtel, this meant adding nuances to her acting performance to differentiate between the twins, even as Kelly began to act like her sister as a way to cope with the trauma of losing her.
Before her death, Karen was considered Millwood High School’s resident mean girl, and Kelly was almost always willing to back her sister up. This created some natural tension between the twins and the five Liars of the HBO Max series, which continued even after Karen died. But as they all waded through their rocky relationship,...

“Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” is a much more horror-centric take on Sara Shepard’s young adult novels about a group of teenage girls who are being stalked by an anonymous assailant.
While the teen slasher series contains plenty of callbacks to the original series, there are also a ton of winks to classic horror films that make the series that much more eerie — from strikingly obvious references like “Carrie” to more subtle references like “The Shining.”

“Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” keeps throwing wrenches into the guessing game of whether or not it was really Karen (Mallory Bechtel) who fell from the rafters at the school dance or if it may have actually been her twin sister, Kelly.
“Kelly” has been giving off some suspicious vibes, and Faran (played by Zaria) has been hot on the case. At the Halloween party in Episode 5, the two went toe-to-toe in the kitchen, where Faran confronted Kelly over kissing her dead sister’s boyfriend, Greg. For Faran, the confrontation was the nail in the coffin to convince her that Karen is, in fact, still alive. But is she correct?
Episodes 6 and 7, which dropped on HBO Max Thursday, do not give a much clearer answer as to whether or not Faran’s suspicions will be proven correct. And it turns out, even the actors didn’t know at the time...

It looks like Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin is already preparing for its endgAme.
Two new episodes of the horror-tinged next chapter in the Pretty Little Liars universe dropped Thursday morning.
And, at the end of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin Season 1 Episode 7, a trailer for the final three episodes of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin Season 1 kicked off.
While the clip teases a dangerous finale for the liars, something else caught the attention of fans everywhere.
"The series finale" was shown in the video, hinting that HBO Max has opted to cancel the series after just one season.
Having watched the final three episodes, TV Fanatic can confirm the show doesn't wrap up in a bow, so it's clear there is a desire from the creatives to continue the show.
Unfortunately, we may not get another season.
Now, this could all be an error on HBO Max's part, and...

Warning: This post contains spoilers for Episodes 4 and 5 of “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.”
“Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” wouldn’t be a horror show without without scaring up a Halloween storyline, and the series did just that with a classic costume party that ended in bloodshed at the end of Episode 5.
The latest two episodes, which dropped on HBO Max last Thursday, kicked the series into high gear as audiences got a taste of how the girls are going to have to confront their own traumas while also unraveling the mystery of A — who appears to be getting more murderous by the day.
The show left off on a haunting note with another murder in Millwood, and the girls (and audience) were once again left with quite a few more questions than answers. Lucky for us, creators Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring sat down with TheWrap to discuss...

Meanwhile, Faran (Zaria) wonders if Kelly (Mallory Bechtel) might actually be Karen and they don’t know which twin was killed. TV Insider caught up with creators Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring to find out what’s next. ‘Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin’ Co-Creators Explain Their ‘Big Swing’ to Turn ‘A’ Into a Slasher
Already, “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” is subverting expectations with the latest take on Sara Shephard’s young adult novels. In the first three episodes, which debuted on HBO Max last Thursday, the series firmly established itself in the vein of slasher flicks, unlike its predecessors.
“I think everyone has expectations of what they want it to be. And I think for us, the idea was, if we’re going to do this, if we’re going to spend two years or three working on a show, we want to honor the original, but also make sure we’re doing something new,” co-creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told TheWrap.
He and co-creator Lindsay Calhoon Bring agreed it was a “big swing” to turn “A” into a masked killer à la Leatherface or Michael Myers. Episode 2 ends with “A” pushing Millwood High School’s resident mean girl Karen (Mallory Bechtel) off the rafters during a school dance,...

This Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin article contains no spoilers.
When Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin was announced, fans of the original series were naturally hesitant. The show had only ended in 2017 and over the course of 7 seasons, the original became an iconic part of teen television that meant a lot to the people who watched it. It even led to two spinoffs with original cast members (Ravenswood and Pll: The Perfectionists), but unfortunately, both were swiftly canceled. So what makes Original Sin different? Will it be enough to last as long as the original or maybe even longer?
While your first concern is most likely that none of the original cast are involved, this seemingly benefits the newest chapter in the Pretty Little Liars world because this is for a new generation. What Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell, Ashley Benson, Troian Bellisario, and Sasha Pieterse brought to life on screen can never be duplicated,...

Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin is making it clear that karma is indeed a thing. The HBO Max series, like its predecessor, is chock full of secrets—and it's only a matter of time before they come out. An exclusive sneak peek from the season premiere teases just how far back one of those secrets goes. In the clip, Imogen (Bailee Madison), one of the new liars, welcomes friend-turned-enemy Karen (Mallory Bechtel) into her home to pick up some old belongings. They awkwardly stand together, Imogen crossing her arms over her pregnant belly as Karen just stares. "I don't want any drama," Karen says, to which Imogen replies, "Me neither." The tension...
