Moon Zero Two (1969)
5/10
A so-so movie. *SPOILERS*
29 December 2001
Warning: Spoilers
Moon Zero Two has about as much pluses for it as it has minuses. Let's run down some of the pluses:

1. Fairly decent acting by the cast, which includes Catherine von Schell and Carol Cleveland.

2. A plotline that was engaging as it was interesting.

3. A bunch of rather good looking young women dancing.

4. An easily despisable villain and a hero and heroine one can root for.

Now for some of the minuses:

1. Very slow pacing at some places drag the movie to a standstill.

2. The theme song sticks in your head like an arrow and with just as much pain.

3. The silliness often gets in the way of things. Example: The low-gravity fight ended up being more stupid than silly.

4. The opening credits are a cartoon done by the same studios that did the movie "Catalina Caper." In other words, pretty stupid.

The whole premise of the movie is this: A rather nasty man finds an asteroid composed of solid sapphire. He decides to crash it on the moon. However, he doesn't have an area to claim as his own, so he jumps the claim of someone else, murdering that guy to get his claim. It is only the intervention of the sister of the claim owner and the captain of the ship hired to plant the engines that will send the asteroid crashing into the moon that stop him and save the day. I'd give it 2 1/2 stars. Not one to avoid, but not a must see either.
