This is raw, uncompromising stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if the stories about this causing riots in cinemas when it was released were true. William Sanderson plays one of the most detestable antagonists ever committed to celluloid - his character is so reprehensible it's sometimes quite hard to watch. The film is hard to defend but it does, undeniably exert a hold over the viewer that doesn't let go right until the end. The print used on Blue Underground's DVD is superb with strong colours and a very clean image - it's looks like it could be straight from the negative in fact. Worth seeing as a prime example of exploitation cinema at its most aggressive.
