5/10
Fun but not particularly good

Warning: Spoilers
I only gave it a 5, but I have it on tape and plan to keep it. The basic story is OK, just your basic time travel thing. Two Navy men from 1944 somehow end up in 1984 via an electronic experiment aboard their ship. They are obviously confused by what happened but don't seem especially overwhelmed by 1984, as I believe they would be. They seem to take TV, video games and other technology in stride. I think the acting by the film's main character is what holds this movie back. Michael Pare' was not a good choice as the lead. His acting is very mechanical and he doesn't begin to touch his Eddie and the Cruisers performance. Cute Nancy Allen does a pretty good job in this film and steals the show. I'd say if all your favorites at the video store are checked out, get this one. It's not bad, but not great either.
