Nuremberg (2000)
6/10
Interesting, but not totally successful.

This remake of "Judgment at Nuremberg" retains some of the same power of the original, but in many ways pales by comparison. Alec Baldwin is a poor substitute for Richard Widmark (who wasn't even that good in the first place). This film concentrates on the prosecuting attorney more then the Judge (played by Spencer Tracy in the original and Len Cariou here). As for the Maximillian Schell character from the original- he's not even here. The standout performance has to be Brian Cox as Goring, a hateable man even among the hateable Nazis. He's the reason to watch this version of the film. That said, the film is overly long and there is no chemistry between Alec Baldwin and his romantic interest (Jill Hennessy). It's too bad because with such great source material, you would think this film would be better.
