Greatest band since The Beatles
4 March 2003
The wise leader of a band once known as The Smashing Pumpkins once said that you can't be greater than Elvis, change things as much as The Beatles, or be original as Led Zeppelin. All you can do is rip them off. This is true to some extent, but Billy Corgan, the mastermind behind SP, created music beyond what others at the time were doing. The only band who did something far more different at the time of the Pumpkins was Primus, a bass-based group. But nobody put on a better show.

In 1995, the Pumpkins reached their peak with the release of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, a name taken from a pun game the band played, and the first single, "Bullet With Butterfly Wings," which placed them on the top of the rock kingdom, only to be brought down by the Britneys of the world a few years later.

In this DVD, Billy and the gang have captured all of the emotion you can into a video. Commentary included with the videos is an awesome bonus for the diehards (like me.) The only DVDs with more energy and emotion you can find are live.

If you like this, I suggest the Vieuphoria DVD, a collection of live shows from the Siamese Dream era. It captures all of the emotion and energy of Billy Corgan and his cohorts.
