An excellent portrayal of life in Africa!!!
30 October 2004
Never have a film before captured the uniqueness of African farm life in the 1800's like this film. It is a sketch of the resentment the Afrikaner people had of the Englishmen. It encapsulates the small and humble pleasures of life, innocent as it may seem, on a farm. The actors did their very best to bring the wide and rich variety of characters to life. The children, animals, uncle Otto (Mueller-Stahl), tant Sannie (Van der Laag) and Napoleon Benkens (Grant) all performed and clearly enjoyed this film. Thorough and timeless lessons of life is smoothly and warm-heartedly transfered to the viewer. The plot is comic and the viewer laugh, cry and laugh again! A must see for everyone who love the humble things in life and who is not blinded by the spotlights of technology!
