After watching such a serious HK thriller like "Red to Kill", it was a little hard to get into this kung fu comic book gore film at first, but I finally came around to it. This is way way over-the-top low rent gore which is as much Sci Fi as anything. Super tuff (with cosmic powers) Ricky Ho is sent to a brutal prison after he kills the drug thugs responsible for the death of his Sister. After entering the prison the fun begins, as he meets the sadistic inmates and guards, and outlandish Asst. Warden, and he deals with them with about as much cheap effects gore as you'll find in any movie. Fists through stomachs with entrails ripped out, decapitations galore, ripped and chopped off limbs, an inmate skinned alive, and a warden fed through a meat grinding machine. yum yum!!!! My favorite scene is one of the sadistic inmates who cuts open his own stomach, rips out his guts, and attempts to strangle Ricky with the guts. yooooo mama, you don't see that everyday. All in all, this was pretty much a movie for gorehounds only, and on that level it definitely delivers. The English dubbing was so bad, I switched to the Chinese audio and read the subtitles. I'm getting a lot more used to reading subtitles now, and almost prefer them to the dubbing. It's nice to hear the voices and lips together with the natural sounds.
