I thought it was Ferris Wheel's day off...

Another Sandy Frank horror. If there is a hell, this person is burning in it for all the wretched t.v. shows and movies that he imported from Japan, chopped up, slapped some horrible dubbing on, and then set loose to punish Americans for decades afterwards.

The only thing that stood out in this one(besides the funny high class Brit accents that everyone sported) was just how annoying a little know-it-all that that kid Ichi was. Not only did he run around in the typical disturbing shorts, he became the Carl Sagan of monsters, knowing instinctively everything about both the turtle Gamera and the flying monster Gaos. He dispensed this wisdom liberally, in between bouts of whining and a really disturbing temper tantrum which made you wonder if this kid was supremely ADD. Sad that the adult scientists were unable to make any headway, and had to be saved by an annoying little six year old who is apparently omnipotent.

The plot and models were both pretty bad in this one. At one time, the kid is playing with a police car that looked like he stole it from one of the other sets. And the plot-trying to get rid of Gaos with a turntable and a fountain of blood substitute? The apropos word for that one just has to be Huh? And the dumb theories expounded by the uptight scientist about the nature of Gaos were just hysterical.

Most of the movie seems to have been just padding in between battles, since Gaos actually seemed a decent opponent for Gamera. He even seriously wounded the flying turtle(how does he fly, anyway? And why do those jet rockets he seems to have attached to his shell make him spin rapidly in the air?)Gamera goes into a huge lake full of Alka-Seltzer to recuperate from that one, while Gaos regrows the leg Gamera ripped off of him. After the final battle there's a huge amount of repeated fight footage, making me wonder if that really WAS the final battle. As usual, I did not get my wish. I was hoping that at least the BAD monster, Gaos(how do you get a good monster, anyway?)would rip Ichi to pieces before he was defeated by Gamera. No such luck, as these horrible Japanese children all seem to be immortal.
