What was this? I saw the trailer and thought it could be a good movie, IMDb members gave it a good rating, critics love it, what do I have to lose? How about 2 hours of my life. The Matador is simply one of the worst films I have ever seen. Why? Well, Julian (Pierce Brosnan) meets Danny (Greg Kinnear) in a bar in Mexico City, Danny finds out Julian is a hit man, Julian scares Danny by planning a fake assassination, now we are transported 6 months later, Julian can't seem to kill people anymore, he goes to Danny's house, he persuades Danny into helping him out with one last assassination. In a nutshell that is what happens in order. Julian is not only a hit-man but a drunk and a pedophile with no life. I don't get what is so special about him and his relationship with Greg Kinnear to waste 2 hours of film. I like movies that are a bit dark and awkward, but this was just plain weird and stupid. It has funny moments, I didn't laugh but others did, it was mainly Julian's sick jokes like "I feel like a bangkok hooker" etc. Not funny, not entertaining. If you have choices to see another movie please decide to go see something else as you might find your time more enjoyable spent on something that might actually hold your attention. The Matador had no twists, nothing to go "Oooh I can't believe that" it was pretty straight forward, lifeless hit-man and failing career man plan an assassination that happens in the last 15 minutes of the film. Pretty useless.
