Psychedelic kitsch and too much off it
3 March 2006
Warning: Spoilers
These days, young people regard movies from the 1960's as dull, overrated and slow-paced. Should you encounter anyone who utters such a remark, make sure to show him "Batman: The Movie". This movie was too much for my standards, not because of its dullness but because it is too much. Let me explain myself: Batman fighting a shark while hanging on a helicopter, Robin's incoherent remarks, extreme vivid colors, camera-positions that will knock you out and villains whose remarks are even more dull than Robin's, etc. This movie is full off psychedelic kitsch, so much that I wonder how the kids in the 1960's managed to survive this movie. After watching this movie, I wondered if Tim Burton ever watched this movie. But then again I somehow knew he did. Should you be looking for something kitschy, "Batman: The Movie" is something you should definitely see.
