ROMEO AND JULIET - Nunsploit Style...
2 May 2006
Warning: Spoilers
THE SINFUL NUNS OF ST. VALENTINE is one of the more enjoyable - if a bit tame - nunsploitation films that I've seen in a while. The story is pretty well written with a few decent twists, and the acting is above average for this type of production. Not up to par with some of the best of the genre, but better than most I've seen lately...

Esteban and Lucita are "star-crossed" lovers whose families have always had beef with each other. Esteban, on the run from the Inquisition for supposedly being a heretic - he is injured in a battle and holes up at the convent that Lucita is at. Things get dicey when Lucita is falsely accused of murdering one of the sisters - and when she is sentenced - Esteban and her unapproving father join forces to free her. Throw in an evil head abbess, and a few corrupt Inquistors, and you have a pretty well-made nunsploit drama.

Not quite as sleazy as some of the other genre entries, but a solid film nonetheless. Definitely some nudity and nothing really in the way of gore, but the intriguing ROMEO AND JULIET rip-off storyline keep this one interesting. Definitely worth a look for nunsploit fans, just don't expect an all-out sleaze-fest. 7.5/10
