I watched this movie after I had read the book for English class. I really liked the book but I thought the movie was going to be awful. In some respects it was, on the other hand it was pretty good. It disappointed me that the director included the second daughters birth and murder, but did not include the birth of the twin son and daughter. I also thought Olan was a little more emotional than she was supposed to be, she also was very beautiful when in the book she was supposed to be ugly. It is a shame that the director left out the part about the uncle being in the band of robbers. I think the director could have made this movie a whole lot better than he did despite the year in which the movie was made.
