Good entry in Godzilla series
5 June 2006
Warning: Spoilers
"Godzilla vs. Mothra" is a more serious and poetic film than the previous movie "King Kong vs. Godzilla". Get past the giant monsters and there are undertones of greed, industrial corruption and pollution. A giant egg is discovered and a company exploits it for monetary gain. Two tiny women from Infant island claim the egg is from their tribe and a creature called Mothra. Godzilla appears and the two battle it out. Godzilla wins and then the egg hatches. Two caterpillar-like creatures emerge and fight off Godzilla. They wrap him in a cocoon and Godzilla falls into the sea. The overall concept of the movie is very good and may take itself too seriously at times. The dubbing is average and the special effects are decent. This film has a good script and above-average direction. Add this to your Godzilla collection.
