I remember watching this in the 80's as a kid and loving it. After it disappeared for a while I always had fond memories but grew out of these action films as I got older. Until its DVD release I'd forgotten that it was a half decent movie and got to relive old memories. In my opinion its probably the only good movie Van Dam stars in before he was considered an actor.

The fight scenes are pretty spectacular for an 80's movie and the plot is predictable but isn't why one watches the film. Its for the villain Chong Li (Bolo Yeung) and he is definitely the bad guy. Bolo Yeung's stage presence and impressive physique is the major standout of the film along with some very fast well camera captured spin kicks by Van Dam. No computer enhancement in those days and i wonder if anyone was hurt whilst filming?

Anyway this is my favorite martial arts film of all time (which aren't many) and appears somewhat realistic. Its a short feel good film about the modest guy (Van Dam) who comes out on top, avenging his friend who gets a battering (which he deserved) and despite being handicapped by his opponent (won't give it away) comes out on top.

A classic popcorn movie of the 80's that you watch for the fight scenes and something to own for old times sake.
