Evening (2007)
There are obvious problems with age
4 July 2007
Warning: Spoilers
The movie's flashback wedding scenes take place in the late '40s or early '50s judging by the cars shown. The scene where Ann and Harris chance meet in the rain, after each has had a child, occurs about 1957 or '58, again judging by the finned cars. Connie and Nina, as seen in the short scene where they are shown as children, apparently are only a few apart in age. So, assuming the flash forward part of the movie occurs in the present, Nina must be in her 50s or at least late 40s. Yet Toni Collette looks much closer to her actual age of 34. I doubt Nina would be getting pregnant at the age she would have to be in this movie. And if it assumed that the flash forward actually occurred, say, 10 to 15 years ago, then the dying Ann would only be in her early 60s, and Vanessa Redgrave was certainly made to appear much, much older even given that she was a gravely ill character. I had other issues with the film, but this is a glaring problem that I have not seen mentioned.
