Scarecrow and Mrs. King: The First Time (1983)
Season 1, Episode 1
It's a COMEDY!
22 April 2008
As a graduate student in Counseling Psychology trying to finish my thesis... and after hearing the pain of clients for several hours... Well, everything melts away when I come home and watch an episode of "Scarecrow and Mrs. King." I absolutely love the romance and HUMOR in this show! This show is most identified as a romance-adventure... but, quite honestly, I think it is WAY funnier than most of the crap "comedies" on TV today. Many, many great quips and barbs along the way... and even the choice to put Beverly Garland (Dotty, the mother) in a sweater that has "A bit Dotty" stitched in it is subtly hilarious! Aside from some modern classics like "Arrested Development," few TV comedies can actually deliver their humor the way it's done (with true hilarity and void of smug "Hey look at me I'm funny!" style) in "Scarecrow."
