A very good Fassbinder Film
16 August 2008
Warning: Spoilers
If you like Fassbinder's films you will like this one. I was pleasantly pleased with it. Sadly though the plot was so apparent I knew what was going to happen from the moment he said he had to buy a lottery ticket. Also, I would have liked it much better if the whole movie had stayed in the carnival. Of course that would have been another movie entirely but I like carnivals and would like to have seen Fox the Talking Head in action. Also the 3 carnival strippers in action.

It was clear and obvious what was going to happen to Fox. I thought the final scene though was terrific and horrifying. Sad but oh so predictable. Still this movie is Fassbinder at his early best. It is also the common tale of nothing but bad things coming from winning the lottery. It is like that old saying "A fool and his money are soon parted".
