Warning: Spoilers
This is an extremely entertaining taco western, if that exist, and a true favourite of my uncle and my cousin but even with that I have just finished watching El Tunco Maclovio complete only for the second time. I'm glad to report that it is the same fun and honestly I'm kind of surprised after checking its IMDb profile. I thought it was a little popular in the States but certainly it is not popular at all, empty message board and just one comment! But anyway here is the second…

You will have a lot of fun by watching this film however this is a tragic story, the tragic story of el Tunco Maclovio (Julio Alemán). He is a gunman, a legend but eventually we will know that dark and tragic chapter of his life that happened when he was very young and that marked him forever but not only that, now is back and there is going to be a revenge. Basically is for "accident" that Maclovio meets the kid Marcelo Pavon (Juliancito Bravo) who, actually, tried to robbed him however upon that incident a friendship begins and eventually that will be a way to show the human side of Maclovio. Near the ending of the film a woman becomes for the fist time a reason to keep going for Maclovio. The name of that woman is Sara Montaño (Barbara Angely) who was looking for her own revenge against the gunman who killed her love, who do you think is that gunman? Yes is Maclovio! And that was a consequence of the present mission of our gunman, a mission that he almost knows. Before knowing the past and the human side of Maclovio we know that gunman, that legend. He not only kills to save his life he also and of course kills for a few pesos or dollars more. As we watch how legendary is this gunman we watch how "evil" is Laura Montaño who was looking for Maclovio for that mentioned mission. Even that Maclovio never speaks to Laura to know why she wanted him he ended killing, to save his life, the man who Laura wanted dead. That's basically the reason of why Sara, daughter of Laura, wants revenge.

If someday this film is released on a Region 1 DVD (maybe it is out there but I don't really think so) definitely I would like to watch it just for the curiosity of knowing how in the hell they made the subtitles for many phrases, phrases that makes me laugh a lot. It is part western of course, part drama and unintentionally it is quite funny. There is some stuff that is clear was made for make the audience laugh a little but other that is not that clear, mostly are the words that the characters use with such serious voice. Definitely not dialogs that you expect (for example "darle unas nalgadas para bajarle los humos"). The encounters between Maclovio and Marcelo is also quite funny, sorry is Mr. Marcelo, but definitely is just one of the many things that makes this an extremely entertaining film and a cult one. The music theme is memorable, sort of influenced by the theme of Django, by the way. Definitely this is the perfect example of a personal favourite film. Don't expect a masterpiece (I'm writing this because I give it 10 and the last film that I give 10 was Aguirre, der Zorn Gottes) however expect a lot of fun but like the fellow user who wrote the first comment said, it does have a very sad ending.
