How I Met Your Mother: Double Date (2009)
Season 5, Episode 2
Lacking in laughs
18 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
HIMYM is an all time favorite and after a shaky drawn out start to season 4 its refreshing to see the season start fresh, Ted with a new job, Robyn and Barney in a relationship and possibly a baby for the Marshall/Lily couple but while the season opener started with a few laughs this particular episode was unfunny and forgetful. Ted who is never funny but usually likable is turning into a Ross clone off 'Friends'; in the end you just feel like slapping him every time he mentions 'the one'. He is particularly annoying here because the episode mainly revolves around him and a girl who "spoiler" he tries to woo the entire episode only to decide no I like the girl but the tiny insignificant things about her he couldn't live with. Unfortunately the sub story with Marshall and Barney can't save this and i'm hoping that this isn't the end of the laughs. The whole 'People looking like the group' did have potential for some laughs even a barney clone wouldn't have hurt, but everything just felt flat.
