Arrested Development: Visiting Ours (2003)
Season 1, Episode 6
9/10
They said (and did) wonderful things

Warning: Spoilers
Visiting Ours may not be as loved as most other season 1 AD episodes, but there's so many wonderful things going on in this episode that it can't be ignored. Be it an allusion to how a carnival is scary or a suspicious claim that ice cream's not for kids, Visiting Ours is a shining example of why AD's first 13 episodes compose the best bit of television ever made.

One thing that really makes this episode funny is the awkwardness of it all. The story is a little awkward as Michael tries to convince his mother to visit his father in a conjugal trailer. The jokes are more awkward still- the "Daddy horny, Michael" line, the question of whether George has been in prison for a month or two months, and George Michael and Maeby's long hug. It's hilarious that prison just happens to get scarier just when George Michael visits, given his fear of prison.

One other thing that makes this episode stick out is its foreshadowing. AD rivals Lost in this category- some of the earliest foreshadowing of the Iraq and never-nude story lines occur here. George asking for George Michael's hair may also be the first reference to Oscar Bluth (George's twin who has hair), but personally I think this is too early for an Oscar reference and George just wanted some kind of disguise. Either way, Visiting Ours is a lot of fun.
