And the expectations are always high for a Mani Ratnam film. Raavan had created a lot of hype before release just like kites did but again the audience was completely let down by a weak,simpleton story. Again the director tried to make up for it with complex screenplay and heavy cinematic which end up looking like cherry on rotten bread. The characters were nothing but boring, add to that the ordinary acting which looked artificial many a times especially for Aishwarya and Abhishek. There was no chemistry between Aishwarya and Abhishek and never would the story have allowed any no matter who the actors or the director. Some good points about the movie were the music and Govinda's character. The only two things which would keep you awake during the movie if you try to. If you are tired with whole days work, then this is the movie to watch since the whole theater will be empty and an ultra boring movie would give a good 2 hours sleep in the A.C.
