Nice Bad Guys are Worse!

Warning: Spoilers
I agree with Martha - an outlaw holding a gun on you being sweet and kind is sickening. I think it's better if an outlaw talks mean to you then the way he did (and by the way, Michael Pate did GREAT in this role!) He even tries to give Tess money to buy a bell for her calf. Tess gets really ugly and tells he she wouldn't take his money!

Oh then his attitude with Tess's suffering as she talks to Sam. "She's not suffering anymore than me." Oh, but he forgets that she's just a little girl! She's not used to all the harshness the world has to offer yet. Then her having to say those things to Sam...She really knew how to cry those tears! That was a really good scene between her and Sam.

I wonder about the gunfight though. Couldn't they have been just a bit more... original? It was sort of boring - just two men standing in front of each other and drawing their guns...
