This episode is about a Confederate Captain - turn gunfighter - turn Reverend. First we learn he saved Colton's life during the war (Shiloah), then we learn we was a gunfighter and killed a man in a legal gunfight. As a result, he is now being chased by a man named Deneen. Since he and his wife were married, they had run several times.
It's the age-old story, I suppose. I've seen it in several other Westners as well. A man's decided he no longer wants to live by the sword. He puts down his old sword and picks up a new one - the Bible. And only after his wife is shot does he decide he would once again use the gun against another human being...
"He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword."
