Warning: Spoilers
In the late 70's, in the small town Lillian, the boy Joseph "Joe" Lamb (Joel Courtney) misses his mother, who died in an accident in the local mills. His father and local deputy Jackson Lamb (Kyle Chandler) wants to send Joe to a summer camp to spend vacation but he wants to stay in Lillian to help his friend Charles Kaznyk (Riley Griffiths) to make a super 8 movie.

Joe has a crush on Alice Dainard (Elle Fanning) but Jackson hates her father and does not want Joe to be close to Alice. However, Joe's friends invite Alice to be the lead actress of their zombie movie and they head to a train station to shoot a scene during the night. Out of the blue, they witness a train crash provoked by their teacher Dr. Woodward (Glynn Turman) with his pickup and Joe takes a small object that he finds in the wreckage. Sooner the location is surrounded by the Air Force militaries under the command of Colonel Nelec (Noah Emmerich) that evacuate the town. When Joe and his friends watch the footage of the accident, they discover what the military are seeking in Lillian.

"Super 8" is a film that combines "E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial" with "Predator". The result is unoriginal but highly entertaining, with all the clichés of the genre. The film made by the Charles is entwined in the credits and is hilarious. The soundtrack with classics from the 70's is another plus in this film. My vote is six.
