The problem in reviewing this movie is that we are outsiders who aren't totally sure how accurate the film is. However, if you do a little background reading, some people involved in the campaign have indicated that it is mostly representative of what actually happened.

In terms of being transparent, I'm a middle-of-the-road Democrat. But that fact makes me believe that this movie is fair, because I felt somewhat more sympathetic toward Sarah Palin after watching this.

Making a film depicting recent history, as this does, is difficult, because it portrays people that, for the most part, we know. It doesn't call for an impersonation, but it does call for characterizations that are reasonably accurate. The film succeeds in that sense. Julianne Moore's portrayal of Sarah Palin is uncanny. Ed Harris is good (though not great) as John McCain. Of course, we don't really know Steve Schmidt, but it seems to me that Woody Harrelson's portrayal of the campaign director is quite good (and I say that as no fan of Harrelson). Of the supporting actors, I most enjoyed seeing Peter MacNicol as another campaign adviser, but all seemed to do a relatively good job in their roles here.

Recommended, in part to test our memories.
