Sunes jul (1991)

Wonderful Christmas series for children
14 January 2013
I suffer from Christmas-is-over blues, so I continue to watch old Swedish Christmas programs for families! "Sunes jul" ("jul" = Christmas) is from 1991, and I find it one of the best ever. It is at times screamingly funny! It takes all those typical situations and things we do in the weeks leading up to Christmas - the Lucia procession, the making of gingerbread cookies and "knäck" (a kind of toffee with almonds), the decorating of the house, the buying and wrapping of Christmas presents etc. - and shows what often happens in reality. That is: something goes wrong...

As to the father of the family - who makes the most of the mistakes, at the same time as he can never admit that he does not know how to do a certain thing, or take somebody else's advice - I can see both my ex husband and my own father in him! :-)

The main character Sune is a charming, cute, crafty kid, and somehow I am not a bit surprised that the boy who played him grew up to become a successful lawyer! :-)
