Crime Story (1986–1988)

This show even made '59 Fords look good!

I saw the pilot and was hooked. I thought Miami Vice was over rated, but I really liked this one. It is a basic plot of a Chicago thug working his way up the ladder, with a cop who's obsessed with bringing him down.

The realism of the characters was great. Dennis Farina is a former Chicago police officer and he was perfect. Anthony (Tony) Dennison is fantastic as the hot headed yet cool Ray Luca.

The first season the best, but I gave it an 8 because the second season seemed to lose it's edge. First of all the show was about the rise of Ray Luca, now that he's on top, what now?

Second, the production got lazy. Here's Torello driving his 1957 Chrysler and the road is full of mini vans, and he turns into the driveway full of 1960 Ford police cars or they steal scenes from other episodes and try to make them fit. How about Cori Luca watching 'Let's Make a Deal' and the winner wins a brand new 1970 something Cadillac. Come on guys...REALLY!

One more thing, the show seemed to be watered down. God forbid! We better not offend a four year old! But there were some good episodes as well.

Another fun thing is seeing some of the guest stars and they are famous today, like Julia Roberts.

I got both seasons on DVD and I still enjoy them. It's T.V. at it's best, too bad we have to go to the cable channels so see good television today!
