Secret Agent (1964–1967)

Warning: Spoilers
When this first aired on local TV I was somewhat intimidated by John Drake's persona, his stand over tough guy routine, frequent violence and abetting the killing of some of the corrupt villains he investigates, by far worse villains. I was only five years old back then. Watching episodes now between relentless infotainment shows are sheer joy. The mostly well written stories are filled with intrigue, drama, violence and a sense of comic timing 007's writers would have done well to aspire to.

An athletic anti-hero, Drake puts his formidable martial skills to good use to subdue opponents that are silly enough to think they have the upper hand. As skilled at double dealing as fighting, he improvises to great effect to draw evidence from an array of mostly unwitting wives, girlfriends, accomplices, witnesses and bystanders. Even in a bad situation, Drake's confidence barely falters.

I am only me, but this show is still entertaining, and watching it, first time or repeat, will please most everyone.
