David Bowie: The Next Day (2013 Music Video)
10/10
Clip of the year.
9 November 2013
Best video clip made in 2013. Along with the one starring Tilda Swinton, David Bowie proves with this clip once again why he's one of the greatest entertainers of all time. A whole decade has passed since his last album and his last concerts and then all of sudden he resurrected with greatness, a smashing album #1 hit and starring in Hollywoodian clips like this one, sharing the screen with Gary Oldman and Marion Cotillard. Puts in shame every wannabe artists who takes media space in the music business.

Won't say his music in this particular video was all that great but it has some quality. The greatest appeal is in the imagery, the actors involved and how everything was made, one of the year's shockers getting negative reactions from the Catholic Church and other religious institutions who thought the clip was profane and shouldn't use sacred items in its composition. But controversies are awesome in my book and those folks don't know what they're talking about.

Here, Oldman plays a priest tempted by Bowie, a Christ like figure who seems to possess Cotillard's character. The action takes places in a bar crowded with bishops and female strippers and they all seem to like each other very much. Director Floria Sigismondi trademarks, for those who known her amazing clips, are present everywhere, a first class spectacle. 10/10
