I really enjoyed this one too. I was afraid of disappointment since Slappointment was the first episode that actively disappointed me and I was scared of being let down again. But no, it was fantastic.

The Lily-Marshall storyline was a necessary evil. Even the irrational and out of control Lily. I totally get why she demanded to go, given the particular storyline. It's the first time in years her work in art is successful and that means so much to her. So much that she's blind for the needs of Marshall. This is just the "final fight" they need to get over this big hidden issue in their relationship: Lily's art dream. She needs to be able to process it in a way, to let it be in harmony with the family, to process the fact that her family truly is the more important aspect in her life. Marshall on the other hand is making the right move: he finally wants to know the true commitment of their marriage. I bet he's been wondering all these years "what if she made it?". This fight should resolve this.

Lily storming off is perfect for the story! She must realize that Marshall could be right. What if I was successful? Would I have come back? Is this really just plan B? I think she's not sure and afraid to confront her own feelings about it. That's why she must have run away, to get the answers herself.

Marshall's cool down monologue could have been better I guess. Although the 'bugs with boobs' was pretty damn funny.

Barney's work story was really outstanding! You got some extra (crucial) perspective, some evolution he's been through between Coffee shop and Corporate. When we first heard the story it felt so forced. How can such a transition be done? With this episode (this aspect of) it gains credibility. His revenge scene was off the charts. "... to arrest you. Door closed... or...?", hilarious! And off course the awesome song to top it all off, splendid!

Some other things have been revisited, like Ted's mom (I absolutely adored that 20 seconds they discussed it!) which is fantastic for the continuity of the show. The discussion between Robin and Ted was entertaining with Barney talking in between (influenced by truth inducing drunkenness). It also makes so much sense that Robin is rich! I mean, she was a pop star (her songs went Maple and one even double Maple), had a TV show, her father's house looks like a mansion in flashbacks... I can't believe people haven't been wondering about it earlier.

The end of the interrogation was fantastic. Barney again confessing his love, saying how everything will be perfect after the wedding, further subtly and unconsciously encouraging Ted not to ruin the wedding (he has the locket, remember). All those little things in between (like humiliating Ted and irrelevant Barney questions) were funny and a perfect glue in between the bigger stories.

It was also breathtaking to see Future Ted and The Mother together. Absolutely loved it! They should have done those kind of scenes (like they also did in The Lighthouse) much more often and earlier in the season. They consider the ninth season as the 'cherry', the chance to top it off perfectly. To do that, they needed more of the mother in earlier episodes. Fans would have absolutely loved it.
